SOG Molle pouch
on: September 05, 2009, 09:59:20 PM
MOLLE (pronounced MOLLY as in the female name) is an acronym for MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment. It is used to define the current generation of load-bearing equipment and rucksacks utilized by the United States Army. The system's modularity is derived from the use of PALS webbing, rows of heavy-duty nylon stitched onto the vest as to allow for attachment of various MOLLE-compatible pouches and accessories. This method of attachment has become a de facto standard for modular tactical gear.

I recently traded for a SOG  MT and the tool came in the SOG Molle pouch, I had never seen or handled one previously. All I can say is this nylon pouch is built like their MT's, a tank. Very well constructed and it fits a variety of MT's and knives, as noted in the photos. For $8.00 ( includes shipping to the USA ) it's probably the best buy is a nylon pouch today.

Hi,

does the Molle allows you to wear a MT horizontally on the belt, or just vertically as for the leather case ?

With the MOLLE straps it allows you to wear the sheath horizontally and vertically...though I think the straps might get in the way...EOD with give you a better answer ;)

Shouldn't a true MOLLE pouch have the logo either removed or at least blacked out?

This is my EDC rig,  It has a molle pouch for my sog that is attached to the sheath of my Fallkniven A1.  It was all custom made to suit my needs,  The whole thing rides high enough to be easily covered by most shirts  and If I just want to carry my sog I undo a snap take off the pouch and I have a vertical Powerlock sheath that has two straps with space in between where a belt loop goes.  So the whole thing is very secure on my belt when it's just the sog

last week I had the sog sheath customized to include 7 loops that tightly hold 6 bits and my bit adapter.   If any one is interested I can get you one made.  With or without the bit holder. The actually Powerlock sheath in these pictures is almost 3 years old and I carry it every single day.   It would cost more then 8 bucks.  But it's made in America by an American and it will last forever.  Also it don't say SOG on it.   :tu:

Here is it after the bit holder was added.

Sorry for the sucky cell phone pics.

I like the look of the bit driver slots on the sheath.  Looks like a mini ammo bandolier.  ;)

LOL Like I said I can get you one. Just cover the cost of the sheath and the shipping.

Mine has what I guess you would call the Female end of the MOLLE on the SOG pouch,  So I can take it off and put it on my belt or any thing with a male MOLLE attachment,  Such as my Fallkniven Sheath.  I've put it on vests, and back packs,  it works with anything that has MOLLE.   Now that one in the photo has the Male side on it.  Which means you wouldn't be able to use it in a vertical position on a belt.  But you can have yours with either M or F on the pouch.

Mine also has a button snap close,  But you can have yours made with Velcro if you would rather.  Also you can have it made in Tan, Brown, OD Green,  or just Black like mine. And of course with bit holder or without.

A lot of options available,  And it all has a life time replacement warranty.  Not that you will ever need it because the crap is supper strong.  I mean every thing has several layers of stitching,  not just once or twice like the factory one has. It will never fail unless you simply destroy it on purpose.

But if you really want one shoot me a PM.  Once I know the specific options you want on yours I'll be able to give a price.

I have been using one for a few months now for my Gerber 600 Bluntnose.  Works very well for horizontal carry.  I like it.

I just bought a PowerLock at the PX last night.  While it came with a nice holster I want something a little more high speed and tactical.  When I get back over to the PX I’ll check out the swat/ninja department for an ACU pouch now that I can properly size it.  A 9mm pouch should be just about right.

My SOG PowerLock in my new  Maxpedition #1411B - Single sheath

Priced right at $10 on another forum it is built tough and I like it's functionality better than the SOG Molle sheath

Like Dennis noted - horizontal carry makes it a lot lore comfortable on the belt.
