Just checked my 3, and yes, the 0s are missing on all of them, even on the BO 300.

All of my 3 are dates as:    07  9

Is it possible that this is a new format that Leatherman is using to date their tools? Either that or their date stamp wasn't working properly.
A little Leatherman information.

The plier pivot on my 300 is nice and smooth now :multi:

The handles have really loosened up nicely also, now it's just the main blades I have to work in.

My date stamp is the same as Chako's.  07 9.  On mine, if you look really close you can see a very slight impression of a 0 between the 7 & 9 but it's very slight.

My BO date code is there but the "0" is slight as well.

Hi,

Both my stainless and black oxide faintly show the "0" before the "9" leading me to believe that the so-called "missing 0" is a tooling problem.

Best - Joe

Hi Guys, I got my 300 a few days ago. I've been a "Wave" owner for several years but being an electrician, the "crimper" and replaceable wire cutters on the 300 seemed like a dream for me. I love this thing. My Wave has been like my right arm and the 300 will be too. I've contacted Leatherman trying to find out which "flashlight combo" (mini mag version) sheath will fit the 300 but I don't think they understand what I want, they keep pointing me to "Surge" sheaths but there is no "flashlight combo" sheath listed for the Surge. I think I'm going to order a sheath for the "super tool 200".

Great site guys.

Another Dave - cool. And welcome

I think what the LM guys meant by suggesting the Surge sheath, was that there are elasticated, bottomless pockets on the sides. You can get a Maglite solitaire in there, but nothing much bigger I wouldn't think.

This pic is actually of the smaller Charge sheath, but it has the elasticated side pockets with the Solitaire-sized Serac S1 in there so you can see what I mean:

Which Maglite do you have?

I used to come here a lot.

It looks like the cut-outs on the Surge sheath are designed for a AA size flashlight

Here is a couple of pictures of a Maglite sized Craftsman flashlight in a leather Surge Sheath

I forgot to mention that the Surge sheath is slightly wider than the ST300 sheath. While the tool will move around slightly, when it is alone in the sheath, it snugs up and makes a nice package when items are in the elastic pockets.

I did a search that came up with no results so I'll ask here, does the "universal tool adapter" fit the ST 300?

Yes it does, as does the Removable Bit Driver.

They offer two bit adapters, one for the "fuse" among others and one for the "core". Looking at the phillips driver on both tools it looks like the "core" phillips is the most similar to the 300.

Yeah - the Removable Bit Adapter, fits over the Phillips and will fit the Kick, Fuse, Blast, Core, ST300, and some of the pruners and knives.

The Universal Adapter clamps between the handles on the 4 and 4.5 inch tools only.

I got some pics somewhere.....

EDIT: Here you go:

The top picture shows a Sideclip with the old "Standard" Tool adapter, but the Universal works and looks just the same really. Below that is the Removable Bit Driver on a Core (which has the same Phillips and tools as the ST300). The picture has them using the Leatherman "flat" bits, but they are 1/4" hex drivers in both cases.

This shows the Standard, Removable and Universal adapters in their carrying arrangements. In summary, the Universal Adapter is a bit more versatile, the Removable Adapter is more portable!

Hope that helps :tu:

Nice collection Dave. I have a bit set for my Wave, I'm going to get the bit adapter for starters. The bits can be handy. I see my collection starting to grow..lol

Hehe. That's not all of my adapters - just an example of each. I know, I know......  :P

For what it's worth, the removable is my favourite adapter, but 9 times out of 10, the driver built into my Charge is sufficient. I do use the Removable adapter with the Core a fair bit though.

Actually the difference I've found in the two available bit adapters, that fit on the Philips driver, is the sheath that comes with them. A Surge sheath comes with the adapter listed for the Core/ST300, and I am not sure which exact Sheath comes with the adapter for the 4" tools, but it will be one that has a rear pocket for the adapter kit.

To big of a tool for me to carry everyday. I went back to the Pulse. It does seem like a tool that can get any job done though.

I'm similar to prime77, in that the ST300 is a bit too big for me to carry, but I'm using it for just about everything at home now.

It's safe to say that my Cores are retired!
