Greeting to everyone, I just got my ST 300 (plus the premium sheath) from the local shop here with 'grind marks' on the both side of the plier head, also it's so difficult to open and close (even after I put tuf-glide oil,  I hope this will loosen up with time).
However even with the little quality control issues, the ST 300 sure does impress and I very much like it.

Cheers

On the ST300 (various ones) you may notice things like extra stiff tool clumping, scratches on the plier heads, and varying degrees of tightness between the pliers themselves and the handles extending to the open position.  It's been my experience that sometimes things loosen up and sometimes oil helps but if you have an overly kantakerous ST, just send it back to LM with a detailed description of your issues.  They will take care of you.  I've used LM warranty repair service several times and they always do outstanding work.  :D

Actually, I don't use "open" carry position. The picture only indicates the sheath's potentials.

Yeah, I've actually had two (2) ST300's fresh from a retailer that have had manufacturing defects.  Each time I sent them back to Leatherman and each time they sent me a perfect tool  :tu:  Given the quality and price, I'm willing to overlook a few quality control oversites.

I had the same problem carrying my ST300 or Surge and so I've been toating a lighter EDC the past weeks.  I am really hoping my Charge ALX is not too heavy since that is meant to be my new EDC.

Congrats on the ALX Sawman, it is a great tool.  And I totally agree that LM should come out with a support line for the ample bellied men that (mostly) make up their customer base!

Hey, I am new / already posted the required intro: My question is: I am prolly going to get a 300 for the B-day coming up this month  but I have heard horror stories on how it is clunky like my Surge. Is this true or is it B.S.?

Hmmmm, just noticing something in that last photo of yours Chako. Safety cams on the back of the plier pivots:

(Image removed from quote.)

 :o

That can only mean one thing! :tu:

.

I'm thinking it meant MUT.

Though I am a little bothered by the lack of a Surge update. Long overdue.
