Has anyone seen the YT video of the fellow disemboweling a ST300 with a cutoff saw? He apparently received it as a warranty exchange, and was quite dissatisfied with the flex.

I'd post it, but it's just too horrid.  :ahhh (Image removed from quote.)

Hi TS, I haven't seen it, been searching just now, no joy. Any chance you can post the link?

PMed.

I thinking that posting such a video goes against the philosophy of MT.O

(At least I don't want to post it with out Dunc's, J-sews', or Def's permission)

Anyone else want a PM, just ask  :tu:

No kidding. Especially considering he could have made a few quid off it, if he did not want it...

I wish I could believe that the flex was designed in deliberately. It feels wrong to me but I don't think function will suffer.

Wow, video watched  :o. I actually feel a bit sick. Clearly the young man wasn't best pleased with his ST300 but what he did is surly a crime.  >:(.
Poor innocent ST300.

It is kind of strange how the thing "tends to grow on you".

At first it feels all strange and weird in your hand, but after awhile it's really hard to put down.

 :multi:

EDIT: Oh, by the way, I got another membership card for the club yesterday:

Another old thred revived by a new member. I am now in the ST300 club . The mailman has delivered one big, bad tool. It's soaking and the sheath is getting a spa treatment and both will be ready to go soon.

Just got one of these on the cheap from that home depot deal. I already have a core so not sure I needed this, but I notice the tools on saw handle seem a bit loosey goosey, I can even flick some of them out with one hand and saw moves/rattles when tool is closed. Is this normal or can it be adjusted without sending it back? The knurled rivets near the release mechanism seem pretty tight or have a thread sealant possibly. Anyway I dont want to pay shipping to send it to Leatherman, any thoughts?

You could grip both knurled screw heads with a couple of good pliers and try snugging them up a bit. It shouldn't take much; a quarter turn at most should take care of the looseness :salute:

Yeah i was using the core and and buck extract pliers, but there is very little meat to get a grip on, so I went with a standard needlenose and regular plier tools, was able to spin it a little, seems a little better might try it once more, but I'm getting some scratches around the screw  :P. Maybe some vice grips would work better? Would be nice if they just used a stinkin hex screw

The Needle nose vice grip works great for this application + a little oil and its working perfectly now, I just wish their quality control wasn't so hit or miss.

Another odd thing I noticed about ST300 Vs. the Core(they are almost identical) is the ST300 side with 2 flatheads and awl - the thumb studs are all even, but on the Core they vary in length and are easier to get out, seems like a poor design downgrade imo.

That has to do with the ST300 tool clumping feature. On the Core the tools could come out individually, so the staggered nail nicks were standard, a feature not necessary on the ST300.

One note though, the last run of Core's and any that have been factory refurbished lately will have the ST300 implements. Not a big deal, but it does defeat the "one tool at a time" feature.
