I never understood the concept of "locking" up booze. If I need a damn drink I sure as hell don't want to be looking for a friggin key.
That was what I was thinking.

Well, after being on the road for what seems like forever, I have arrived at my temporary home.  I exaggerated, I'm only here for twelve days, not two weeks.  I haven't done much yet, but then I've only been here for a couple of hours following a one hour rie to the airport, a two hour flight to Toronto, another two hour flight to SSM, then a two hour car ride to the house!

But, there are steaks on the BBQ and beer in the fridge.

That's Paul Bunyan and his blue ox named Babe.  I am about 10 kms (about 6-7 miles) away from that.  Might swing by there in the next few days as there's a hardware store right behind it!  :D

Well as I am certain you all know by now, I am here- I arrived safe and sound at my parent's place mid afternoon on Thursday, and have been enjoying myself off and on since then.  My parents left yesterday for a couple of days (I'm trying not to take it personally!) but I have still been enjoying my time here as you'll see from the pictures.

In answer to some of your questions, what tool(s) did I bring?  Well, I brought my Skeletool CX, pocket clipped Spirit and Ranger 61, and the only one that's seen any use so far is the Ranger.  Of course, it's been a constant companion to me in the woods as only a folding machete like it can!

I had it out for a ride on the ATV last night, and while it didn't come in handy for any necessary work, I did have a good time cutting down some HUGE weeds that have withstood many lesser knives.  I don't know what these weeds are (I think it's a form of ragweed, but I could be wrong) but they grow to about 6 feet and the stalks are tough!  Needless to say the razor sharp, super thin blade of the Ranger sliced through them easily.  I didn't get any pics, of that since I can't snap pics and cut things at the same time, so you'll just have to take my word for it!  :P

I also took the obligatory Dunc Post shot even if Salty Boy isn't here to see it!

So how far out into the woods am I?  Simple answer...

Far enough....  and if you think that's a joke, have a look at this sign about twenty feet away...

And here's a pic I took for Mike- this fellow lives in my parent's yard:

I haven't hugged him yet as we aren't even on a first name basis, but should you ever come to visit, I'll be sure to introduce you!

More pictures to come....

I had a fantastic time, and I'll get more pics up soon.
