Warranty and Repair...Again.
on: May 11, 2007, 07:51:51 AM
Just a little update on Leatherman's Warrant & Repair service.

Quite a while ago I broke the sides off the bit driver on my Charge. I didn't send it in at the time because I was using it everyday and didn't want to be without my primary tool. Well being that I discovered this forum and my multi-tool collection has swelled I finally sent it in to be fixed. Here's the timeline:

April 16th, 2007: Tool is sent off to Leatherman USPS Priority Mail.

April 30th, 2007: I recieve an email from UPS informing me that a package from Leatherman Tool, Inc. is on it's way to my house. Designated delivery date is May 7th, 2007.

May 7th, 2007: UPS updates their tracking page with a rescheduled delivery notice.

May 10th, 2007: A pretty little package is waiting for me when I arrive home tonight, inside my Charge with a new bit driver and a freshly sharpened blade.

Not too bad on the turnaround time and +1 for resharpening the blade.

It was my own Charge, I had had it for about 8 months when it was damaged.

how do you know if was yours, did it have any characteristic marks you recognise?

Ah. Sorry, I misunderstood your original question. Yes, the Charge returned to me was, in fact, my Charge. Evidence to this fact is the pattern of chipping of the Black Oxide on the titanum scales and certain scratch marks on the main blade from using a Lansky system to sharpen it.

Funny thing, I gave the Charge a closer look and on the side where the bit holder was replaced the screws are now six-point torx bits while the rest of the screws elsewhere are five-point bits.
