Need a cover for my Axe!
on: September 13, 2009, 07:24:53 PM
My lovely little Wetterlings axe (camping model I think ) needs a jacket :D

It has one of those little rubber slips which is wearing through and I'm after something leather to replace it - any idea where I can find such a thing in the UK?

Not a clue sadly :-\

You could ask one of the leathercrafters over on BB, but it'll cost more than the hatchet probably :o
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Any ideas out there please?

I also need a cover to protect my cheap wood chopping/garden axe,
I will be getting a bloke in my town to make a leather one for me,
What I need is a couple of  pictures so I know what to ask him for,
Or I will have to play with some paper and tape to make a prototype  :-\

Thanks!

I'ld know how to do those covers. Easy and cheap, leather given.

Do you need a short essay so you can pick teh useful parts and throw away my saddlemaker's delusion?

That looks perfectly fine Sparky, the other option is to have the strap run around the back of the axe just under the poll, like this.

BTW Chrissy did you ever get something?  I just came across this lot that sell spare GB covers, although I've no idea which might fit your axe.

No dealings with these guys myself.

Yes I did, but I don't own any leather making tools, or any spare leather or have the strength in my hands to try and make one at the moment, which is why I wanted to buy one :)

It's not exactly rocket science, I know!

That's very kind of you Zed!  :salute:
But I have just found a guy in my town that is doing a few leather jobs for me,
He's a nice bloke so I'm happy to send some work his way.
I went in with some work boots that needed mending and after hanging around on this site he's now making me a wallet as well
More stuff in the pipeline I'm thinking  ;)

Sardauker,
its just an empty square to me mate  :-\

Thank you and Davek.
