Other stuff from Victorinox ?
on: September 20, 2006, 08:48:09 AM
You guys tried any of the other offering from Victorinox besides their knifes, multitools and flashlights? It seem to me if the quality is in their mutitools and knifes, then their other stuiff is worth buying as well.

I saw they have a lot of neat stuff. I would like to hear some feedback (if any) about the Vic wallet and anything Victorinox.

I have a Victorinox compass and two watches, and a set of Wenger luggage and watch and they are all great.

The nice thing about Victorinox and Wenger is that they don't sell the rights to their names to other companies who put it on cheap junk like Smith & Wesson, Remington, Winchester, Colt and some other companies.  Each company they use is carefully selected for a level of quality and price that will accentuate their brand names, not just make a quick buck.

Given that mentality, I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything with the Victorinox or Wenger logo on it.

I bought two watches.  One worked great, the other was junk.  The junk one had a thermometer and altimeter on it.  The thermometer never worked right.  I sent it back twice.  Twice it came back malfunctioning.  I wound up swapping it for one of their more expensive models that I traded for a Tom Krein TK10.  So in the end it worked out.

Although their multi's are #1, stay away from their wallets. The made in china nylon one I have is pretty much a ball of fuzz after a  month. I ended up getting a Kevlar Civilian from Tag Gear $10 cheaper and 10 times better.

Oh darn. I had my eye on one of the wallets.

Thanks for the heads up!
