For me the impact is comic relief.  There are a fair number of amateur humorists posting on MTO.  Those funny posts often provide a little relief when I'm slogging through yet another dreary, boring day.

Many of the entertaining posts are by Brits, but to my mind, two posters stand head and shoulders above the rest:  Benner and MickyD.

Yeah, somtimes the endless bickering back and forth between these guys can get a little monotonous.

Yeah, they often completely derail threads from their intended topic.

However, they provide quite a lot of comic relief and are rarely boring.  They liven up MTO and often cheer me up when I've been having a bad day.
