Worst flood ever in 21 years
on: September 26, 2009, 08:40:57 AM
The typhoon is still in progress while I'm posting these photos:

My driveway:

Back of my house:

Inside my house:

Warzone:

My family and I are in my mother's place as my house is in total disarray due to this flooding.

I just called up Gene. They already left their house and they are now on save ground at his mom’s house. Here in our area we are also experiencing strong winds and heavy rains but not as severe as in Manila.

Nasty, we've been getting a lot of that here in Spain too, luckily nowhere near us.

Hope it doesnt cause too much damage/grief

Hope things pick up mate. The one thing I like about this forum is the global friendly feel of things around here. Kind of sets it apart from other forums.
Keep us informed (if you can) ....and good luck.

I once got caught in a cat 4  hurricaine in Florida - but I could fly home when it died down, and didn't have to queue up for water and deal with the aftermath like the locals.

+1 to the above  :tu:

Man oh man. At least the family is safe. Material property can always be replaced but family can never.

I hope the damage isn't too extensive, although those photos tell me otherwise.  :(

Do you have insurance? I sincerely hope you do.

Take care, and best wishes Teofilo.  :salute:

Holy crap- that's a mess!

Chako's right though, at least the family is safe.  Replacing things can be difficult, especially things of value, but they are still just things.  Family is important, and I'm glad you managed to find a safe place to keep them!

Wow, okay. Yes, that's right, I'm actually a robot hell-bent on the destruction of humanity. I have no feelings, nor do I care for anyone on these forums. Thanks, that's EXACTLY what I was trying to tell you. Thanks for clarifying that for people, in case they missed all the hidden context.

Sorry, seems sarcasm and strange humor are my defense mechanisms.

That asides, people still take me seriously here? I agree, I'm not good with it, maybe I shouldn't do it. I figured after ignoring them so long I'd make an attempt and an explanation, and it seems my usual sense of horrible humor got in the way (and the whole post-than-think mentality). But I do not think it was oh so inflamatory that anyone should make a big deal of it... just ignore me like usual. ::)

That being said, I'm sorry to hear of your plight Teo and I wish you the best and hope the situation gets better.
By no means do I wish you harm, or for killer robots with shoulder mounted lasers to descend on your kin.

EDIT: And sorry for being rude, if it seemed so.

My heart goes out to you and your family Gene. :( So sorry about your house and everything. And do take extra care when you get back, as oftentimes outbreaks of sickness can follow flooding. :(

It is still raining hard here in our place but we are not experiencing flooding like in Manila.

Guys, coming from Florida, flooding is nothing new to me, but damn, that's A LOT of friggin water!!  Teo, as has already been said, I know your possessions are important, but screw it.  At least you and yours are safe.  That's all that matters.  Def said it best when he said things can be replaced, people can't.  Man oh man, I don't know what to say.  Be careful guys.  Keep your families safe, and please keep us posted.  Let us know if there's anything we can do.
