Just Ordered a Skeletool w/ Bit Kit for EDC in Afghanistan

I ordered the basic Skeletool along with the Leatherman Bit Kit today for everyday carry in IRAQ and Afghanistan.  I’d recently bought a SOG Powerlock but having to open the thing up to get at the knife frustrated me to no end.  The Skeletool blends the essential features of a multi-tool with a one hand opening folder into a single trim package.  The interchangeable bits eliminate the need for many of the traditional multi-tool gadgets.  The belt clip should ride nicely on the re-enforced pockets of my 5.11 cargo pants too.

I thought you had the Benchmade for your knife duties, but good choice on the Skele.

Yes I do have a BenchMade 3550, Juice S2, SOG PowerLock, and now a Skeletool w/Bit Kit on the way.  The SOG PowerLock is just to clumsy to manipulate, one handed,  when your hanging on the side of armor.  It appears the Skeletool will handle both jobs.  The interchangeable bits will allow me to configure it for the screw heads I encounter most often, also.  Plus, clip into my back pocket for easy access.  Since I have the funds I thought keep evaluating tools until I find the appropriate tool for my needs.  I really like the 3550, but did not want to subject it to unnecessary wear cutting open boxes and such.

Maybe a Spyderco Military for your main blade will be a nice one. Can't recommend that one enough.

What about just trying a Charge of some sort for your multi? Or the new ST 300.
