Trying to get some fall photographs this year.
on: October 10, 2009, 11:16:05 PM
After a week and a half of rainy cloudy weather, the sun peaked out this fine morning. I quickly grabbed my camera and headed out to get some fall shots. However, when I got there, the clouds rolled in and the beautiful sunlight disappeared once again. I did get a few shots with nice rare blue sky. The other shots look like I over exposed the sky, but that is thick cloud cover. Man I hate this weather.

With that said, the leaves are starting to fall, and it is a bit weird. Plenty of deciduous trees still have their green foliage. I am undecided if this is the height of the fall colours this year. If it is, it wasn't spectacular compared to other years.

Well I did take some photographs and here are a few of what I got.

I am thinking the full bloom might be a bit later. Hard to tell.

Excellent shots mate.  Autumn is my favourite time of year, just so long as it isn't raining. :)

Thanks everyone.

The Fall colours just aren't there this year. I might go upstairs and find the ones I took two years ago at the same place and post them here. I did not go out last year because dealing with my father's estate sucked all the photographic joy out of me for a full year.

Yeah, we've not exactly had a blaze of colour here yet either.  It's still to come I hope.

Well I went up to my upstairs computer (I should come up here more often as it has all my old photographs archived). It would seem that I went out in September 30th 2007. I didn't go out in 2008, and it would seem that I may be a week late this year. That explains why it was lackluster this year.

Anyways, here are some of the photos I took back in 2007 for your viewing pleasure.

You’re welcome.

OMG…the sun is out again...albeit briefly.

Got a 45 minute drive to St Joe's Island a bit later to visit a friend of mine for Thanksgiving. He is also into Photography. Who knows if anything I might have to post for later? I am bringing the Wine.  ;)

Woke up to snow on the ground…ack.

Chakodude,

Brilliant pics....my wife now wants ME to get a decent camera to copy.

I reckon you have spoilt me with choices for my new screensaver.

Well done old bean,

Just got back from my friends farm. Had a great time. Shot a 12 gauge and a 30-30 for the first time. The weather was cold and miserable for some of it. I didn't take too many photographs...mostly family shots.

Your welcome Flash.

Thanks for showing me what fall looks like.  It seems Wisconsin has decided to jump right into to winter.

Here are a few photos from my most enjoyable day on St. Joe's Island yesterday.

The first is a beautiful quaint little church in the middle of nowhere.

Because the weather wasn't all that good, I didn't get to take all that many photographs. However, I do quite like this one taken from the little Church.

The next is taken from the highest point on the Island.

Thanks Bob.

The older ones were taken with my Pentax K10D which is a 10 megapixel camera with a Pentax DA 16-45 f/4 ED/AL attached to it. The newer ones were taken with a Canon 50D which is 15 megapixels with a Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens.

The extra resolving power of that extra 5 megapixels does wonders to the details of the foliage. Also, I have noticed that the 17-40 F/4L lens fits that power better then my venerable Canon 20D which only has 8 megapixels. In fact, the 20D and that wide angle lens was not a good match and for some time, I had assumed the lens was a bit off. It wasn't, it just needed something with more resolving power.
