In your prayers please
on:
October 11, 2009, 05:41:00 AM
Hey everyone, my wife found out today when she woke up that she had a big swollen black and blue on her foot. We had a nurse friend of her's check it out and she was not sure what it was, but wanted her to check it out with a doc. Problem is its Sat and the doctor we normally to is closed. So at like 8pm tonight we go to the town next to our to a walk in clinic and they think it's a bite from a brown recluse. To make matters worse she is diabetic and already has problems to boot. They are putting her on antibiotics and gave her a shot tonight. I have to bring her back in the afternoon before I go to work for them to check and see if the redness has gone down at all from the shot she got tonight. They may also give her another shot tomorrow to make sure this thing doesn't get any worse and hospitalizes her. Just keep her in your prayers and hopefully everything will get better, she has never had anything this serious happen to her.
Sorry for the bad pic, took it with my phone in really bad lighting (mainly the flash)
The black circle is marker the doc put on there to track where the redness is now and if it decreases or increases by tomorrow.

Oh man. I hope it isn't. If it is, she will suffer quite a bit of necrosis.

I'm sure she'll be thrilled to find out that you posted that pic on the 'net! You better hope it's something serious, so she'll be too distracted to kill you!
Seriously, I hope it's nothing too serious. Brown Recluse spider bites are serious stuff, and the worst is you never know until well after it's happened. Little buggers like to hang out in shoes, just waiting for your feet.
Good luck!

Well got up this morning and the redness area has not shrank but the size and swelling of the black/blue bump has gone down. We are heading back to a doc again today to have her get another antibiotic shot and this afternoon she will get a prescription filled for it. I would gather mon she would see our normally doc and continue to follow up. She originally says it does not hurt but I think over time it does, she normally can't feel a whole lot in her feet and that's normal to an extent for her. She looks at her feet daily and checks them because she is diabetic and the one day she doesn't because she had socks on she is greeted with this. Doesn't pay to take a break huh? She knows I took the pic but she doesn't know it's on here. It's ok, she won't kill me....she would have to catch me first

Well it seems it may not be spider bite, they think it's a staff infection. We have her admitted now to the hospital and I am grabbing stuff and heading back there (course stopping by to check messages first). They removed the dead tissue, thought you all might like a picture, talk about gross.
