Holy crap... I bet you are going to bug spray every spider you see around the house from now on eh? Use something with permethrin in it, very effective against spiders.

I knew it would be this bad once you said brown recluse bite.  :(

Be sure to take care of yourself along with the misses. Hope the skin graph takes well whenever it happens, and a speedy recovery.

Well I figure you folks would like an update, been kind of busy so I have not had time.

She has been home now for something like two weeks, can't do any real walking or anything. Doctor has her sitting and when she is mobile it's small steps or I wheel her around in a wheel chair. Her foot is healing, slowly but surely. They have a vacuum pump on her foot like I mentioned earlier to improve blood flow and to shrink the wound. She is doing well but depressed and really thinks life stinks. Her blood sugar is much more under control that it has been and her diet is going well, not liking it but it's being done. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers and I know it's through the power of many that small miracles are accomplished.

I sincerely hope she has a speedy and smooth recovery from here on. Hopefully her mood will lift a bit once she has healed.  :salute:

Just caught this thread. And this is way I am morbidly terrified of spiders. Especially the small ones. I saw spider crawl behind the toilet in the upstairs bathroom a while back. Didn't dare use that toilet for a bout a week and not until spraying of deadly chemicals ensued. Next time somebody makes fun of me for being afraid of spiders, I'm showing them this thread.

We are lucky we don't have any nasty spiders here ( not the I know of :( ) But I'm still damn afraid of them! I try to kill as much of them as possible inside the house but outside I leave them alone they are good for pest control...... I guess if they leave the hell alone out of my house I leave them alone too  :D

@ David, How is she healing? Hope she doing good.

Well today she went to the foot doc again and she was cleared to stop using the vac pump. She is going back to using the Prisma pads and regular dressing and in a week he will debris it again where he removes the dead skin and at the same time if needed he will do the skin graft. He thinks he may not have to do one, he thinks it healing rather well (looks like the last pic) but he knows more than I do. Thanks for your support guys, I appreciate it. :salute:

Thought you all might want an update, and it's not a good one.

She had been having severe chills and hot spells for a few days and other than that her foot had looked really good. Over the weekend though something had happened, we went to go see him on monday and her foot looked bad rather than good. He took some xrays to see if she had any air or gas trapped under the joint in her foot and have her another antibiotic to he,p knock out the infection that had appear to start setting into her foot again. Well things had not gotten better, she had not eaten since sat night and her chills and fever had gotten severe and her body was hurting so bad she stayed in bed all the time. Combine that with vomiting and you have a major catastrophe on your hands. I ended up taking to the hospital in Baxley at 2am wed morning and they did their thing and tell me her sugar is 360 and her white blood count it 21,000. They get in touch with her foot doctor and he has her transfered via ambulance to douglas where she was the first time and ended up going into surgery wed evening about 6:30 or so.

The operation lasted about 2 1/2 hours and the doctor said the infection was bad and he didn't know if it was residual infection that had laid low from the antibiotics and then came full force or something that hitched a ride in on the skin graft. He removed even more skin and dead tissue from her foot, the infection was tracking up her foot and into her ankle and he said it was really bad and there was puss coming out of everywhere. He also said the tendons that control her big toe and part of the up and down motion I think in her foot had infection around them as well. He had to remove the protective covering of those tendons to try and save them. He said they may be ok but he is not sure if they will heal or if she will lose them and the movement. It's all really bad guys and it's touch and go, we are all so afraid for her and her foot. All I can continue to do is pray and hope she comes out of it and ends up living a somewhat normal life. Worse case is I roll her around in a wheel chair for the rest of her life. Thanks everyone for your support, I am pretty depressed about it all even in spite of Grant trying to cheer me up. He tells me that she needs me and she needs my strength. I am trying but it's not easy. Oh also she might be on heavy antibiotics for 2 weeks to a month and because of this they are probably going to put a cath in her chest so she can receive IV antibiotics at home.

Hope I didn't leave anything out, it's alot to take in but I think I covered most of it. Thanks for everything guys.

Oh man David, that is not the news we were all hoping to hear from you.

All we can do is to keep sending our thoughts to you and your wife and hope things don;t get any worse now. As for you, yes you do need strength in this challenging time. It's in there somewhere whether you know it or not right now. I hope you know we're all here for you, whatever ranting or venting you need to do.
