Little one has chicken pox
on: October 12, 2009, 11:51:30 PM
Just got back from the dr. and the little one has chicken pox.  If I owe anything via mail...I don't think I do...it might be a few days as I will be home with him while the wife is at her internship.

I had it when I was 25- better for the little one to have it now when he won't remember it!

Hope he feels better soon!  :D

My daughter had it at the start of the year, I believe Def is right, much better to get it out of the way when they're young.  I got it when I was 14 and can honestly say it wasn't any fun at all. :-\

I hope he's feeling better soon though. :)

He is surprisingly happy even though I know he feels bad. But they are still somewhat localized the doc said the spreading would likely happen today or tomorrow, then we will see how he feels.

Bummer mate  :( , hope the little man comes good soon.
My misses got them in her late 20's & she was left with quite a few small scares on her forehead, I still love her  :D but she is a bit peeved by the scares.

Is he too young for the vaccine?

If so, make sure that you get a titer tested in a couple years.  When they're really little, they may not get full immunity to it.

I hate the chickenpox. I got it when I was about 10 years old. The thing about mine was I didn't feel bad at all. I felt fine. I had a tryout for a baseball team the day I was diagnosed. I begged and begged my mom to let me try out for the team but she wouldn't let me. She said there'd be other teams I could try out for. Well I eventually got better and found another team to play for. All would have been fine except the team that I missed the tryouts for....Them? Well they won state that year. The team I was on was mediocre.

That pissed me off, my younger step brother was in a different league and his team won state for their league so I heard all about how great it was and how I missed it because of the stupid chicken pox. To this day it still bugs me, my only chance to play for the "NY Yankees" of little league baseball was gone because of a disease that never made me feel bad in the 1st place.

Anyway, another glimpse into the tortured soul of DTH. I hope your youngin feels better soon.  :tu: :tu:

I think the vaccine is in the 12 month group and he is only 8.5 months.  And I trimmed his nails...have to about every other day as the grow so dang fast...another reason to buy a wenger swiss clipper.

Definitely talk to your pediatrician about checking titer levels later then.   Standard practice would be that Liam doesn't need that vaccine, but at his age, he may not form lasting immunity.

Would hate for him to have to deal with this twice.
