on: October 13, 2009, 06:49:41 PM
Please post here any thoughts/ideas of features you might want on the forums, and I'll try to get them sorted if they are possible/available for SMF.

1. Spell Checker
2. WAP/smartphone enhanced version/theme
3. bookmarking of threads [done]
4. Smilie reorganization vote.
5. customise the number of posts per page/topic [done]
6. Previous / Next page option [done]
7. return to top/bottom of page [done]
8. inline image resize [done]

Online sharpening of scissors and serrated blades.  You know, just hold up the tool and click the button.  :tu:

OK, seriously, a somewhat more mobile/small screen friendly version.  I know there is the WAP2 version of the site built into SMF but that's looking very crude these days.  Can it be souped up for smartphone use?

Spell check option? Personally I don't care about misspellings in threads--at all, but some may like it.  Low priority IMO, but I've seen it with other SMF.

American spellings preferred.

Of course.  :D

Yeah, FF does spell checking for everything.  Amusingly enough, it thinks my name is misspelled each and every time I type it... :D

speed dial? there's an addon for firefox to do that.

Chrome is pretty ugly in linux... even though the windows version is supposedly based on the linux back end...

Firefox does indeed have spell check, but I think it's not out of the question to have a spell checker innit.

I had looked at this in the past, but put it aside hoping that the new fancy version of SMF would come out first...

I'd like to be able to customise the list of emoticons we have in the new post window so we can have what we want there without having to click the "more" option.

I'd quite like a Bookmark thread feature that stores a link to threads I like/are useful and keeps them in a section in my profile, thus I can click a button and have a quick link to it no matter what computer I am on. Make sense? No idea if it's possible or not

I don't think this one is possible... we could perhaps vote on some being migrated one way or the other?

Rather not have to log into a secondary site to get at them, but yeah it's a possibility :)

Edit to add: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=864 would this one work Whoey?

I use the xmarks (addon) to sync my bookmarks on my computers, so I always have them :)

I suppose it's not so useful if you're on public machines tho.

That may be an option.

I just find that some of the more popular ones are on that more option which is fine, but my comp has very slow days and it can take ages to come up.

Yup, and i do seem to end up on a variety of different machines :) I also have different browsing habits depending on which of my own computers i'm on so like to have a different set of bookmarks on each one.

the bookmarks mod requires manual installation for some reason, I'll look into it.

that one was easy once I found the addon...

click "profile" > Look and Layout Preferences (under "Modify Profile")

you should now be able to adjust settings....
