I'd like a Previous / Next page option, rather than having to aim at the little page numbers.

Not the Previous / Next Topic, but pages within a Topic.
I used to come here a lot.

Oh, and a Top Of Page link above each post, to save having to scroll up from the bottom of a long thread.....
I used to come here a lot.

I can't see the Bookmark link :-\

Is it anything to do with:
+ Whether users can create bookmarks or not, now relies on a unique permission (make_bookmarks) instead of the can_reply permission.

with regards to WAP/smartphone enhanced version/theme:

Add one of these to the end of the URL of the SMF Forum.

?wap
?wap2
?iphone
?imode

Or if you're on another page, change the question marks semi-colons.

I have not tested this on a phone.

I've played with these before though I don't recall there being an iphone option.

I'll go test now and report back  :salute:

OK, I've attached some screenshots so those without smartphones can see what I'm talking about.  These are all from a Nokia E71 but it should be applicable to most smartphones with 320x240 displays.

First is what the forum looks like on the built in browser normally..

Now in Opera Mini (it makes little difference if your running 4.2 or beta 5..

?wap doesn't work.  ?wap2 is like so..

very similar to ?imode

?iphone doesn't work either.

Using the built in browser everything is where you expect to find it but there is so much scrolling around involved its almost unusable.

Using Opera Mini its easier to navigate the site but can still be a bit tricky and there's plenty of side scrolling required when zoomed in.

WAP2 and iMode are fast and good for those on basic modern phones especially if there's no 3G connection.  The total lack of graphics or layout can make things quite confusing to follow though.

I'd be very intersted to see if the iphone optimised version could be brought online.

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

It might be easier if you tried using Skyfire as a browser.  It's what I use and I have no probems viewing the forum.

I've tried Skyfire on a couple of occasions over the years but had issues with it.  Might be worth a revisit  :tu:

I've added a image resizer that reduces large images to 800x800 max (we could adjust this to something lower if requested and you can still click for fullsize) to help readability on threads... some of you post really big images, and it's hard to see on some users screens at lower resolutions.

I have a 22inch widescreen that is running 1680x1050 resolution, yet I typically have my browser at about 1024 width as I like to see other things on my desktop such as chat/mail etc.

Also from experience, some people HAVE bigger screens, but don't run them in high resolution as they have trouble reading text etc... I'm forever switching the resolution on my brother-in-laws laptop to the native resolution as I can't stand the pixelly jaggies on his text/icons (he runs a non wide resolution on a 19inch wide screen)

Is there a way to allow us to keep threads and PMs as drafts, to be sent at a later time?  It would come in handy for reviews, and potentially for sending PMs (like having a "I got it!" draft that could be saved when working from a computer, so it could be easily sent from a Smartphone later--instead of having to type on the freakin' smartphone)

Kinda linking to this, some sort of folder for saving important PM's would be handy.

I really wouldn't mind if you found a way to show how many people are in chat again... I miss chat still, and you can't tell if people are in there. So, that means that you log in, and don't see people and log out, and someone else logs in and does the same thing. If we could see again, perhaps we could chat more often. :)

The chat client we use now is not the same as the old one... and it's not so easy to display how many users are in it. In general I'm very tempted to ditch what we have as it's usage is very low aside from the frog, sazabi, graysonk and myself... the other occasion user that drops in for 3 sec and leaves...

I don't know what it is called, but on some forums I frequent, they have a feature where
you hold the pointer over the thread title and a little yellow box will pop up and show you
the first paragraph or so of the first post.

It is kind of a preview or something.I think it is real handy.

I know it's probably been mentioned, but how about thread creator editing functions for the Trade Forums section?  To prevent abuse, perhaps limit it to one edit per day, and have edits pending mod approval so prices can't be changed, or have old versions of the thread cached in the server's memory should disputes occur?  *shrugs*
