LM Sheath Mod
on: September 12, 2008, 02:42:36 AM
See what's missing in the picture??  ???

OK...so it's not high on the skill level required scale (as long as you passed Scissors Class in kindergarten with at least one finger and one thumb remaining....), but I realized a quick fix for my deep hatred of my new Charge's leather sheath: de-tab it.  Go on...just cut 'em off those bad boys, and tweak out the leftover stitching.

Yea, I won't be able to easily insert anything into the side elasto-pockets, but I'm not planning on doing that anyways, so this is a win as far as my needs go. It DRASTICALLY improves how easy it is to remove the MT from the sheath's kung-foo death grip.

Enjoy-
RenHoek

BTW - in case you haven't seen the LM sheaths lately and are saying "what's he talking about?"...they come with little nylon tabs sewn onto the top of the elastic side panels. They extend up about 1/2", covering most of the side of the tool so you can't easily grip just the tool. This fixes that.

Hmm, I might do that to one side. When I use that sheath (I don't currently as everything's in my murse) I have a fisher space pen in one side pocket, a Maglite Solitaire in the other. The tab is useful for opening the pocket to insert / remove the pen, but gets in the way of the Maglite, which has a Roadie Lanyard attached to it to help retrieve it....

Might do that if I remember later - thanks Renhoek!

I used to come here a lot.

Well that's a neat little trick... maybe someday I'll own it, then I'll have this handy reference!

And holy crap, this is some necromancy here... :D

Never had any trouble with the tabs. I just push them down I guess when I reach for my wave. (yeah, I was planning to type tool, but...  ::) ) Anyhow, I never noticed the tabs, but only in a positive way when I want to open the side pockets. Is the wave sheat different than the charge sheat?
