So tell me LM guys...which is better, the Micra or the Squirt S4

As my birthday approaches I am looking at other multi-tools. I am also considering an SOG Pocket Powerplier but honestly, I have the full-size multi-tool dept. quite covered. So I'm considering these but want to know which is better

well i can only speak to the micra but i've had mine for 11ish years now.  its nice.  why not get both?

i like my squirt just a bit more than the micra

It's not even a close race. The LM Squirt S4 is much better. Don't get me wrong, I love the micra, but I think the S4 is a better all around tool. I use mine all the time, especially when I can't find any scissors.

Tricky. They both have advantages.

As a tool, the Squirt's external opening tools is useful, and the S4's tools have mostly been stamped from the same blanks as the Micra's by the looks of things, so functionally there's not much difference.

However, as jzmtl pointed out, you don't have to worry about the Micra getting scratched. Also, you can take the Micra apart, whereas the Squirt is riveted.

If you're skint though - the Micra's about half the price isn't it? So you question might be, "are the external opening tools worth the extra bucks"?

While I don't have an S4, I do have both a P4, an E4 (albeit unopened), and several Micras, and I have handled an S4 in hand before.

Personally, however, I'd stick to a Micra - and if you want a good pair of tweezers, stick to either an SAK or a pair of Bill's Sliver Grippers.  As others have stated, the Micra is half the price of an S4 - quite a bit less, too, if you live near a Kmart - and the tools are longer-reaching, tweezers aside.  IIRC, the Micra's scissors are thinner than the S4's, but not by much.

Still, I'd grab a $9 Micra, a pair of Bill's Sliver Grippers, and end up with both for less than the price of a Micra from some other store.

I think the Micra is much better. The squirt has very nice and dangerous scissors but the tools aren't as nice as the Micras.

I said both,don't have a S4,but have a P4,and 3 micra's,and if you have a K-Mart in your area,they are having a sale out of Micra's for $9 each,pretty good price for someone that is broke.

I bought a S4 to replace my micra last saturday and by 9 o'clock that night I had put my micra back in my pocket and put the S4 back in the tin.The tools don't seem rigid as they do on the micra due to the rivets but the handles do not have the slight play as the micra.SS Micra all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I think both will suit your needs.  DaveK summed it up well - it really depends on if you place importance on outside opening tools.  If you're going to be bothered by scratches on the anodized finish then the Squirt might not be the way to go.  The removable tweezers on the S4 are better than the Micra's tweezers IMO, but they can be lost.

Both are nice but for the $ the Micra is better.  Especially if you are buying it for EDC.  I'm with Smitty44, how can you beat a $9 Micra?  After his alert thead on them @ K-Mart for $9, I ended up buying 5, LOL.  The newer Micra's have colored plastic on the handles.  They are just the same good ole stainless steel Micra but they put translucent colored plastic on the handles.  I prefer the plain ole stainless steel.

I carried a Micra and loved it, however I moved to a Squirt S4 and never looked back.  The ability to access the tools without opening the tool was what I wanted. I perfer the Squirt S4 but you can't go wrong with the Micra.
