It has a flat head instead of a can opener.  Don't see many of those.

I am just wondering if I should get it or not. Seems a bit steep to me. That is almost into the realm of the SwissChamp XAVT, or a Mother of Pearl SwissChamp...both of which I want sooner or later.

They are pretty rare, but not THAT rare IMO.  Even if I had the money going spare, I wouldn't.

simple supply and demand--1 knife(supply) and 2 guys(demand) with deep pockets that must have it!

The value is way off IMO but the knife is hard to find so...................

OK that's crazy; I'm pretty sure even SK would not pay anywhere near that for it.

The same seller sold one like it for 49$ two months ago:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280386142501

Another one just got sold as part of a lot for half of that price:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190342477456

This sale was way to high....

You saw the Soldier 75 that was high as well... again... way too high...

People with deep pockets going crazy...

I agree. I did win the other 3 knives that the seller was offering for much better prices.

I saw those auctions, too, and was just as shocked. Like stressmaster5000 said, I think it was it's just the combo of two guys wanting the same thing, not really an indication of typical worth. Esp the 75 soldier. That one baffles me. That seller, though, does come up with a lot of nice hardware. Look though some of his completed listings - lots of old (30s and 40) soldiers. He sold a 30s Wenger soldier for about $35 a couple weeks ago.

eBay is funny though, esp with these knives. All it takes is two people who want the same thing and the price goes through the roof. Tonight I saw modern Craftsman with a "stock" picture - not even a pic of the actual knife - go for $32. I can buy a new one for $39.

i notice that with leatherman blasts and other multitools from ' speSmurfpillst ebaysellers'  they often go second hand for a few dollars short of buy it now new ones

i guess its a combination of dummy bidders and the fact people see the one seller has all these goodies and they thik ' what the hell i am saving on shipping aren't i...'

Is it for a technician because of those weird electrical/phone panel connectors you Brits always talk about? I hear those things cited as why the backtool flathead works so well...
