Most of my Campy stuff is sold and gone, unfortunately.  I'm pretty much shimano only these days.

I can probably get some good information on the old models though.  Let me take a look around to see what I can come up with.

ive only just seen this mike and your other one  :D for me no gears SS, but if i have to have gears and these days i do then derailleurs Shimano being my favorite,in the past ive used suntour, campag, and mavic, the the sach stuff, but i find shimano the best, years ago i changed parts so often i never had any problems but these days i run the stuff until it needs replacing, for XT is spot on for MTB used and durable ,ive never really used hub gears but my brothers bike had them and a hub brake and it was a git to take the wheel off so put me off, but each to there own, derailleurs are ok when set up good, but a git if not or worn, i used to change my chain and rear cogs once a year, but depends on mileage you do, years ago i did anything from 70-90 miles a day training so parts wore quicker, these days im lucky to do that a year  :-\

It's true that doing a puncture can be a bit of a faff. But it's not so bad with modern hub's :)

Plus with the advent of decent, puncture resistant tyre's, you shouldn't have to fix one too often :)

I wish I could get my school to adopt it ::) they've said yes, but it's getting them to implement it that's taking too long ::)

Which is a shame, as I'm fairly sure I've bought the wrong bike in the Vantage :-\

I'm looking at a Dahon folding bike with a hub system , eight gears should be plenty for round town stuff .
