Got my Holy Grail Spyderco.....almost.
on: October 31, 2009, 03:33:22 AM
I would have much preferred the plain edge version but could never find one available or if it was it went for a ton of money. Anyway this is the one Spyderco I always wanted the Mini Manix. I wanted one even before I really got into Spydercos. I remember seeing them in bladeforums users EDC thread and thought man that is one awesome looking knife. I found a combo edge at a decent price and decided to take it. I have to tell you guys. I got it today and I have to say I'm not disappointed in it at all.

I got the Manix2 earlier this year and really liked it. It is such a solid folder. It made me want a Mini Manix even more. I was surprised today when I compared the two that the Manix2 seems more solid than the Mini Manix. I figured with the open construction it wouldn't be. Maybe it has to do with the solid liners as opposed to the drilled liners on the Mini Manix. They are very similar knives.

I couldn't be happier with it even with the combo edge.

Solid liner eh? No wonder it's so heavy.

If you had to pick one which would you pick?

Honestly after playing with the Mini Manix all day yesterday. I think if I had to choose just one I would take the Manix2. The only reason would be the caged ball lock. I have come to really like it. Having said that I think the Mini is more comfortable to hold. That's my opinion only after one day with the Mini. It may change after I carry it for a while.

Sorry Mike. This will be my last Spydie for a while. I think  :D I would love to handle a large Manix that thing must be a beast.

It sure is... I still don't know how they make such a great knife for such a low price. They can be had in the $60-$70 range.

Especially since it says Golden, Co, Earth on it :D. You think that alone would make it cost more. Spyderco did really good when they made this one.

Yep, Spydie's(and Byrd's) are about the only knife that can make me put up the MT's and SAK's and go old school. Although when I do that I still carry a couple of screwdriver bits on my keychain.
