Micra vs Squirt
on: November 03, 2009, 07:16:30 AM
Does anybody know if there is a difference between the blade lengths of the Micra and Squirt?

I have a Micra, and the blade is a bit on the short side for me, and want to know if the Squirt would be an improvement.

Welcome Jaco.

From memory (and I'll confirm when I return from work later), they are identical, maybe even stamped from the same die.

I used to come here a lot.

even if they are different they are both small blades so I doubt you would benefit from it if you want a bigger blade :) DaveK knows his stuff so I am pretty sure he is right :tu:

Thanks for the welcome lads!

So it is too small to cut my biltong then... Will have to investigate the skeletool or freestyle then. Thanks for the replies.

It might be worth looking at the Juice range too, if you're looking for a blade that's bigger than the Micra / Squirt, but possibly smaller than the Skeletool or Freestyle.

Also, a SAK might fit the bill?

I used to come here a lot.

I have a few SAK's but was never a big fan of MacGyver (and 80's hairstyles, not having much hair myself).

I like the flexibility that multitools (pliers, screwdrivers and blades) gives you, and I love the Leatherman quality and after sales service, which I think is the best on the multitool/ knife scene. I have a PST, for which you have to open the whole tool to get to the blade, which is not ideal if you are addicted to biltong and have to consume quantities of it on a daily basis. I have a Wave which is way too heavy and bulky, and a Micra which blade is too small. So I thought the Squirt might have been the answer, but alas! not with the small blade...

Hmm. Sounding more like the Juice will fit the bill for you then. Have you tried any of the Juice range?

Juice sounds about right for you but if you want a locking blade and OHO, I'd go for the Skely. Good luck with your quest for the right MT  :)

Micra is about 1 mm longer, but squirt is about 1 mm wider. Hope this helps.
