It's a Fennec fox, born with ridiculous oversized ears.

I believe that breed is Chinese crested.  The sad thing is they often have difficulty eating because of their teeth, can have vision problems and bad skin issues.  Seems a shame to keep breeding them for these problems (owners like having them for their ugliness).  :(

They can be very nice dogs, despite their looks.  :-\

Correct on all counts and I believe that poor Sam was indeed blind but a nice little bugger to go with it

That's horrible, and by the sounds of it, cruel!

I don't like dogs, but I don't enjoy seeing any animal suffer :(
I used to come here a lot.
