Hang on - this is a knife 2 or 3 times the price of the UKPK I was looking at, that wasn't worth it?

Pfft.

I used to come here a lot.

For what it is, no I don't think it's worth it.  This though is just perfection  :angel: and worth every penny.

Well, for what I've seen, it definitely isn't worth two UKPKs ;)

I've handled two (maybe 3  :think:) Sebenzas now, and whilst they are clearly very well made knives, I see two issues:

1) The cost is ridiculous, as the materials aren't much different to many cheaper knives;
2) It will damage just the same as knives half it's price.

I used to come here a lot.

The materials are all Ti or S30V, so they aren't the same as cheaper knives.  And it is more than just a materials and damage prevention that make the Sebenza worth every penny IMO, it's the fact that it locks up like a drum, feels about as perfect as a knife can in the hand, opens amazingly smooth every time and it's fit and finish is second to none.  Chris also backs his products really well, so in the unlikely event of any probs, you know he will sort it.

Different values to different people I guess, but I just wouldn't ever pay over £100 for a slippy unless it was a custom (for £100 you could get a gorgeous one).  I would consider paying £50-60 for a used one though as they are great knives, just not worth that for me.  Others disagree though like others do with the Sebenza.
I'm back!!

I want a sebenza but will probably never have the money. Heck, I have never even handled one! But I am sure I will get one someday, just to see if it's everything I thought it would be.

Yes, yes they are. =P

The issue for me is this. It certainly doesn't perform 3, 4, or 5 times better, whereas the price is 3, 4, or 5 times more. It simply cannot and never will, regardless of how much so called time and effort was put into its making. Nor does the material make that HUGE increase in price!

1) The cost is ridiculous, as the materials aren't much different to many cheaper knives;
2) It will damage just the same as knives half it's price.

Thus I agree. =P
Also, I have to say spending that much money on an item with only one function makes me hesitant. You could do so much more with that money. Buy a couple multitools, in fact... =S

One word. Strider   :D

Ew.
Got those frog legs.

Well it's a good job for Chris Reeve that so many other people disagree with you then isn't it.  ;)

Like I have said before, until you have owned one and used it a bit, you just won't understand.

I have always wanted a Sebbie, and I will one day own one.  I agree that S30v and titanium can be had for cheaper (bradley alias), but there is just something about the Sebbie that stands out.

The problem would be convincing my wife that I need a 300.00 knife.  Of course she did ask me what I was going to buy if this job turned full time, a Sebbie just might be what I buy.

Or a pair of nice earrings.

So, honey the British guy online with the spikey hair told me to buy this and let you play with it for 5 mins.  What do you think?...5 mins later....you could have bought 15 SAK's or 35 bags of diapers.

Nah, if she's got any taste she'll see it as the quality product it is and with that, a wise investment.  ;)
