  Seems like an odd solution to my Ti-Lite problem.  :D

I have Benchmades and have no problems.  But I have other Cold Steels and other Spydercos without any problems as well.  These things happen, it just always seems to be with me.  :D

Your not alone... if you need a reminder about blade play and how annoying it is amongst knife owners

Saying that though, at least you don't get these niggles with slippies.  Knowing my luck I'd get one and it would have a tonne of side to side play.  :D

I'm just joshing with you mate ;)

Things like that bug me rotten. I have completely taken LM Charges down to the bare washers for things like that. (That's about 1 - 2 hours at a time :D).

Hope you get it sorted!

Funnily enough, if it was a MT it wouldn't bother me at all.  I am only this fussy with my knives for some reason and TBH I wish I could get past these minor things as I think it spoils certain blades for me.  Still, lets see what happens.

Ok, what is it with me?  My Ti-lite has developed some really annoying vertical play and despite all my best efforts I just can't cure it.  That means I now have this Ti-Lite, a Spyderco Pacific Salt and a SOG Flash Tanto all with vertical play and as some of you may know, this bugs the hell out of me!  :ahhh

So my question is this; Am I alone here or does vertical play bother you as well?  Side to side doesn't at all, but vertical for me is a real knife pet peeve.

Lockbacks will always have a little bit of vertical play due to the lock design.

It'd bother me on a liner lock or frame lock, but luckily none of my better knives have developed any play so far.

I do have a few "el cheapo" liner locks that have developed some fairly serious blade play after not that much use.  Neat looking knives that I picked up as impulse buys for only a buck or two, so didn't expect much durability from them.

Rotating the stop pin can completely eliminate vertical blade play on a knife with an eccentric stop pin.  Worth a try.  Worked for me on one of those "el cheapo" liner locks.

Vertical play can develop over time even on expensive liner and frame lock knives from reputable companies.

Blade play is one more reason that I don't like liner locks and frame locks as well as good old lockbacks.

But the main reason is that I just don't trust liner and frame locks to be as trouble free as lockbacks.

Even expensive liner and frame lock knives have been known to fail under impulsive loads or torques about the longitudinal axis of the blade.

Lockbacks tend to be more resistant to those failure modes.

Lockbacks! +1 :tu:

Just wish someone'd develop an easier one-handed mechanism for closing one.
In case I lose a hand or arm or something... until then it's not a real problem. :D
Nor do I like closing them against other parts of my body. :twak:
Got those frog legs.

Can't one-hand close any of my rear-handle lockbacks:  Bucks, Kershaws, Gerbers, etc. unless using another body part, like my thigh.  Need something to push against the spine of the blade to start it closing.

But, I can easily one-hand close any of my mid-handle lockbacks:  Spydercos, Kabar Doziers, etc.
