Vice Grip Tools

Yesterday i went to a gun show and found two Vice Grip tools for sale. A 6LC Toolbox that came with a sheath and a ST6 multi tool. I ended up buying both.



The ST6 did not have toolbox on the handle it has Schrade USA. The tools are also different than my 5WR and 6LG Toolbox tools.
It has:

Knife blade
Wood saw
Philip screw driver
Bottle opener
Slotted screwdriver/Scraper
Small slotted screwdriver/Chisel

On a related note, I recently bought some auto-locking vise grips and they are fantastic.

You can just grab things directly. No need to adjust the jaw width first.

The ST6 is quite hard to find. I'm not sure if ebay is still selling those.

I also like Vice Grips i use them all the time. I always wanted a pair Lock Jaw pliers. I have the craftsmen self adjusting pliers and i like them. max6166 pliers also look interesting. I think it would be cool if Schade would make 4WR Toolbox.

Thanks  for the link. I guess mine is a ST6H. I paid 50.00 for the pair and they came with one sheath. They are both in like new condition. I have had a eye out for both of them for a while now. I am a happy camper.

The Craftsmen pliers i have posted above are self locking. I think the Lock Jaw pliers are nicer a long time ago i saw them at Sears and i believe you can still find them on EBay and Amazon.

I don't know if this will help, but mine look completely identical to the Lockjaw pliers but are sold under the Benchmark name at Home Hardware stores here in Canada.

I was looking at yours and they look interesting. I have not seen them here in the states they look almost like regular Vice Grips except they are self locking. Do you have to open the jaws all the way frist to get them to self adjust like the Craftsmen.

No special actions are required. You can just release the lock and directly grab an object.

They open fully automatically when they are released, and clamp down as you squeeze the handles.

AL, I'm not too sure if this tool is purely made in the US, but it has US patents imprinted on the handles. It could have been fabricated or assembled in China.

I think some earlier ones were made in the USA but the newer ones are Chinese.

I think the Benchmark Auto-Lock pliers are just rebranded Lockjaws. They look exactly the same and reference the same patent number on the handle.

I can't find any "Made in" markings though.

Was in the local hardware store recently looking at the "Self-adjusting locking pliers in the bottom pic.
I was a bit turned off by the apparently plastic parts that are between the handles that regulate the tension. Are those parts in fact very durable?

Plastic in a locking plier? Its's pure metal, brother, it's just colored black. It's almost 4 years since I bought this 'Lockjaw' brand and I've done a lot of light to medium kind of works with this locking pliers, and it's still intact.

I bought the 10" when Irwin and Stanley locking pliers went on sale here.
