My collection in ROK
Reply #31 on: December 02, 2009, 04:01:12 PM

yes, you see a Swiss Flame in there!!!!  No, it is not for sale, and no, it does not nor has ever worked.....

I have more in the USA.......about 5-8 more.

All the above, sans the Super Tinker (and the Wenger Evo 16) were bought in Korea, either at the PX, SMKW, Felinvet, pawn shop, gunbroker.com, or in Seoul ("..you are my father's best customer!!")

Did you buy all those pictured in S. Korea or did you buy some online and have them shipped APO?  Nice collection and pictures.  I need to upgrade to a Digital SLR again.  Or buy some better lighting.

I mentioned where I bought them at the end of my post.  Majority, however, bought in Korea in Seoul.  28 odd people on this forum this past year got a red alox First Mate from the place I buy Vic SAK's....  yes, most places ship APO to include online.

I used a Nikon D-90 D/SLR with the Nikon 600 speedlight flash (you can see it behind the OH knives).  12-something megapixels.  Definately worth it.  I want to get a micro/macro lens IOT take better closeups.

Speaking of digital, how good are those digital watch, Altimeter, etc. SAK's?  I am thinking of getting one.  I also need to add a Super Timekeeper.  My contact in Seoul has around 10 of those for sale.  I had to nearly beg to get the Timekeeper from him.  He proudly has displayed the 1 of 1000 USA 1st production run 08 Soldier I gave to him in his display case

Sorry, I didn't read your caption close enough, I was looking at the SAK's. :D   I'm familiar with APO.  I was stationed in Germany twice and spent at least half of the time of my one Stateside assignment TDY.  I like how most businesses treat APO/FPO as Stateside shipping.  Although, I was in before Internet commerce was even heard of.

I used to have a Canon Rebel XT Digital SLR with a wide angle and zoom lense.  I never used it so I sold it to a friend.  Point & Shoot camera's work fine for what I want to do but my biggest problem is lighting.  The external flashes you can buy for a Digital SLR work so much better.  The flash on my Point & Shoot cameras, Canon Powershot SD950IS & SX110IS, just washes things out.  Since it seems lighting is my main issue I need to get a nice light that will cast a bright natural light.  I'm somewhat familiar with the Nikon Digital SLR's.  My brother has either the D60 or D90 but I'm not sure.  It takes very nice pictures.

The Altimeter and Voyager's digital readout is decent as far as accuracy goes.  I don't know if I would go as far as to say they are precise though.  The clock on my Voyager seems to keep good time.  The thermometer on the Altimeter is good if you give it time to adjust to the surroundings.  You can't pull it out of your pocket and get a quick reading of what the outside temperature is.  But if you leave it for a few minutes then it adjusts pretty accurately.  I've compared it to another indoor thermometer I have and after a few minutes it adjusted to the same temperature.  The Altimeter only has altitude and temperature.  The Voyager has clock, timer, and alarm.  It's more expensive but the Traveller or Traveller Lite has a better selection of modes.  It has a clock, timer, alarm, countdown, altimeter, barometer and thermometer.  Pretty much what the Voyager and Altimeter have combined.

If you want to buy new SAKs with ECO scales, go to crappy tire.
Most of their SAKs have ECO scales, but they charge Cellidor prices for them.

If you have a MEC membership, you can get an ECO Recruit (model is sold as the Driver).

I think that's the only ECO scaled SAK that MEC sells.

My small collection :)

The Tinker. My EDC for many years. Broke them, lost them, but always replaced them. Why Tinker? beacuse of MacGyver 🤭

The Super Tinker. My actual EDC. Why? because I discovered how the scisors are useful. I used to think they are too small. But they are not! Absolutely perfect for small cuts 👍

The Fieldmaster. Why? because I need something to carry with me on short one day trips. You never know when you will need some extra tool 🙄

The Ranger. Why? When I go to a trip for a few days I have to be prepared for everything 😀. Always packed in a pocket of my bigger backback.
