Need help with a new torch
on: November 30, 2009, 04:31:37 PM
Well I'm after a new torch , I need it sooner then later and I'll probably order from Heinnies tonight  :D

So if I tell you what I want then you guys can fire off a few suggestions  :D  Please  ;)

I've around £40 to spend . I want something bigger then my Fenix L0D but not as fat as a Surefire 6P . AA's would be good as they are alot cheaper and easier to get hold of then CR123's . I would like a long run time on low power and at least 1 hour of burn your eyeballs out power . It needs to be weather and waterproof and spare "O" rings would be good . Oh almost forgot , its got to be LED and white . I very impressed with my Fenix L0D but would like something a little bigger and brighter .

Thanks

Dunc

What about the Nitecore D10.  I don't know what they run in your neck of the woods, but I had the CR123 version and it was very nice.

My first gut reaction would be to stick to Fenix either the L1D/L2D or the L1T/L2T have caught my eye.  I don't have any of these myself but they are in your price bracket and would seem to fit your needs.

Although slightly more pricey I'm very happy with my Eagletac P10A although it my not have a low enough or long enough level for what you are after.

Thanks but I'm after something alittle  bigger . Say 2X AA . I keep looking at the Fenix LD20 classic and the Fenix TK20

Once again I'm after something a little bigger . I didn't say that in my first post did I  ::)  While Diameter is a problem the length of 2 X AA won't be .

I really like the TK series if you need a lot of light.  I have the TK10, basically the same as the TK20, just different cells.  I like it, but wouldn't want to carry it everyday.  Also, my pocket clip feels really cheap, and flimsy, so I took it off.  If you could swing it, and I know it goes against everything you want, but the Surefire Outdoorsman E2L, is almost everything you want.  Very long low run time...we're talking days, and a nice long runtime on high.  However, give your criteria, I would probably go with the L2D.

HHHmmm    I also being drawn to the TK Series . I've just read the TK20 has the larget throw in its class due to its large reflector . I know you can get small lights in the same class but size isn't critical as its for personal use while on Search and rescue and I have plenty of pockets in my coat and overalls .also I like the yellow grip , easy to find if I drop it . Thanks Zack .

Ok one more person to say I'll like the TK20 ( I've more or less made my mind up now  ::)  ) and I'll pull the trigger on it  :D

Take the TK, just use the sheath and not the clip.

I thought the TK had two settings.  High-150 lumens, low-45.  Just like my TK 10 High-220 Lumens, low -60.

Pfff, glad I had that whole flashlight thing behind me, now I have my LD10. Hours and hours at CPF, this one has better runtime, this one is brighter this one looks cooler and so on and so on...I totally see your problem, haha!

Good luck!

I would get the LD2O classic and then one of the traffic wand snap on things. That might prove useful to you.

Good man, I'm thinking it's probably a good choice for you as it appears to be rugged as heck. :tu:

Good choice.  I wish I had noticed your post earlier, I would have suggested you also look at the Quark AAx2.
