Modify PowerAssist?
on:
December 04, 2009, 06:24:29 PM
Hi guys. The powerlock would be a good tool for me if the tools opened on the other side of the handle. What I want to do is get the PowerAssist and remove the assisted open mechanism and then put the tools I use most in that handle. Is it doable?

I don't think that will work. The components may fit in there but there will be nothing to hold the components in the closed or open position.

What Chris says sounds about right, but, wouldn't that pretty much make your tool a Powerlock anyway?
I used to come here a lot.

Thanks for the reply. I would be willing to get a PowerAssist and PowerLock and combine the parts to get one tool I really liked.

You can't just put tools anywhere in the power assist they have to go in a certain way for the pliers to close IIRC
