Well this sucks...Need some wallet advice
on: December 13, 2009, 05:42:04 PM
Hi all,
Well this just freaking sucks!  Apparently my wallet fell out of my sweatshirt pocket last night somewhere.  I've already cancelled the cards and all that and have to go get a new license and that rigamaro...SUCK!    But I need a new wallet.  I'm kind of simple gal, but I do like the zip around design.  A Bill's Urban Wallet isn't really want I'm looking for.  The one i lost, which I've had for like 4 years was a leather, zip around wallet.  So, any ideas on where I could get a good qualiity but not terribly expensive wallet similar that?  I'm taking suggestions.  :)  I can't believe I did this!!!  The one time I put it in my sweatshirt instead of my pants or in a bag and boom.  Colorful Enunciation!!!!  Thanks everyone!

have you tried ebay? I bought a nice shagreen (stingray leather) one off there, and its one of the few things they haven't banned yet.

Funny thing about wallets is it is a very personal purchase. If you are smaller(not Me) spec ops are not comfortable. My son is 5 9 inches and 134 lbs and finds my specops to big. Unfortunatly also looking into what you carry in it is also something important. I have 5 licences and several cards so I need something with a ton of pockets.

So I guess what I am trying to say is ..... Good luck!

That's rotten luck Kelly - but look on the bright side - it gives you a chance to go shopping for a new wallet

Myself, I'm now using the Maxpedition Micro Wallet that John/GG/UnSub sent me. It's really basic, but suits me well.
I used to come here a lot.

I still like the Capsul wallet. Although it's more of a card holder, no space for coins, but that's okay with me since I hate carrying coins anyway.

Urg, I've not lost a wallet yet, but I can imagine how it would be. ._.  Let's hope someone finds it and turns it in? :/

Myself, I use a Big Skinny Thin Card Holder with zippered pocket, though I have a plethora of wallets back home; I'm still trying to find the right one for me.  I'd love to be minimalist, but between IDs and insurance cards, I have five cards I have to carry, and then I get to add a debit card and a credit card, then a couple membership cards, and a business card of each of my knife and tool dealers, in case of "emergency." ^^;

Hawkchucker,
Thank you for that.  I was actually looking at the Spec Ops THE wallet, but if your son thinks it's too big then it probably is for me too.

I liked the zip around because I can be a klutz at times (which is probably why I lost the darn thing to begin with) and I drop it a lot.  I kept several cards but most of them are like discount cards (like barnes and noble, kroger, dicks sporting goods, etc) thank goodness I only had my debit and one credit card in there and cancelled them post haste.  As of when i called in to cancel them no purchases had been made.  I still have to get a new license though and that's gonna suck.  I hate going to the DMV.  Anyway, those other cards won't cause me a problem wiill they?  I wouldn't think so.  I hope not.

I also take the wallet with me when I ride so I kind of would like it to be somewhat water proof.  The victorinox wallet looks interesting, but is it water resistant?  (I know it won't rust :P)  LOL!  Just kidding.
Thanks for the great suggestions.

I wouldn't say its waterproof but it does repel water somewhat.

Ok, i think I found what I'm gonna get.  Some of you have your Maxped stuff...I'm a timbuk2 junkie!  I found a wallet made by them for 9.95.  They don't make it anymore, but I think it will be perfect.  However, the only review I could find of it on Youtube is in a language that I don't understand.  So I'm gonna post the video here and you guys can tell me what you think.  It's not so much a "review" as it is a "hey, look at this".  And don't laugh at me:  it's called a biker wallet and it has a chain.  I'm not planning on using the chain (although maybe I should), but the wallet itself has everything that i'm looking for.  So, take a look and tell me what you think please.  I can't find any pics online of it opened or I'd just post that.  I'd love some feedback on what you see and if you can understand what she's saying that's cool too.  Thanks all!!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  When I went to pick up my wallet the girl that had waited on me on Sat night was there.  She said that she'd picked up my wallet after I left and put it under a counter with her purse.  She forgot to tell anyone and hadn't had time to call me to let me know then forgot when her shift was over.  She came in this morning, saw the note about my wallet and they called me.  I checked it when i got there and even the $5 that was in there was still there not touched.  I knew where everything was in the wallet and it was exactly as it had been.  I was so happy I gave both her and the girl that had been helping since Sunday morning a tip.  Wow!  So awesome.  But still think I might get that T2 wallet...9.95 is a really good price for that.  Whew!  Disaster avoided.  :)

You're right about it being broken in just right but not for my back pocket. I usually carry in a front pocket, cargo pocket (I have a thing for cargo pants and shorts) or in a bag. I'm awfully glad it's back though. :)
