Raker Ring Tool makes it into EDC...
on: December 05, 2009, 07:38:23 PM
I picked up my MT.O special edition Raker Ring Tool today and realized, this baby has serious potential.  Compact, protected cutting edge, and flat driver on the one end--perfect for work at the barn!

Here it is opening a bale of hay

It works well the other way around too

The other barn job where a MT is needed is adjusting the automatic waterers.  The flat head bolt is the valve for water flow

A perfect fit!

So naturally, it's made its way onto the keychain!  Next to Alox Rambler for size comparison

I'm thinking about getting another one and hanging it up in the barn.

Looks like something that I could throw on a keychain in my truck for emergency duty. Nice pics! :tu:

I can't wait to get my MT.org stamped one...the one on my keychain now gets used often.  One of the best values out there for a keychain tool.

My concern with keeping it on a keychain is since the edge is chisel ground, bump against other metal objects will probably damage it easily, does that sound right? Was going to get a damascus one but held off because of it.

Mine's not chisel ground.  Its double ground, I can't feel the edge on one side or the other unless I really stick my finger in the opening.

The edge is fairly well protected due to the shape of the tool.  Actually, the lack of needing a sheath really appeals to me.

Oh yeah? That's news to me, I thought it's like every other rescue hook and chisel ground. Now I have to consider one.

Mines clearly ground on both sides, and quite well I might add.  This thing zips through paracord like its sewing thread.

I was looking at mine thinking, 'Is that hollow ground?' Seems like a good example if it is. I honestly couldn't tell you though, never owned anything hollow ground before.

Mine is ground on both sides.  The edge of the blade is centered in relation to the thickness of the metal; I haven't had any problems with my keys of other stuff getting in there and dinging the blade.

The cutting blade is awesome on these things, slices through parcels, and even paracord easily.

The screwdriver blade certainly looks hollow ground.

I used to come here a lot.

Yeah - easy I reckon.

It went through the unopened top of a Jiffy Bag with no hassle at all. Just slice, and I was in.

They are great things - no mistake.

Mines in the EDC already, only picked them up a few hours ago.  Really sharp cutter, the flathead is great.  I'll be using the Gas cylinder wrench at work - as well as opening the oxygen valves it opens the laughing gas for when I'm resetting joints and fractures (crunchy!).  And the damascus looks cool.

Well chuffed with mine :D

BO Raker perhaps?  :D

Ray very kindly threw in a BO tool with the bulk orders, which was a lovely surprise.

So, I currently have 2 x Damascus and 1 x BO all to myself at the moment. Which is nice :)

The Damascus sure is pretty. Too bad it didn't come with the dual hex feature. I have no need of an oxygen wrench so I got the less fancy one that was more useful for me.  :-\

Yeah I was typing from my Ipod Touch, still not used to the keyboard on that.  But yes, I meant BO Raker.

Chako,
I mailed your Ring Tools to  you on Nov 30.  That was 12 days ago.  If you still haven't gotten them by Wed, I will send you another order.  If they both show up, you can mail one order back or purchase the second.  Either way works for me.  If it don't show up, you will at least have gotten your order.
Email me if you haven't recieved it by then.

donvito,
I mailed yours at the same time as Chako.  Maybe he will get his today or at least on Monday.
I tried it as a window breaker today.  It worked on one side of the car but not on the other.  At least I know it is capable of doing it.  I hate it when the results are not consistant.  If anyone else has a chance to check it out on a junker, please let me know.
The Christmas mail must be in full swing.
