I know there have been posts about modding Skeletools to remove the carabiner, but i was wondering if this would void the great warranty that LM offers. Right now i'm torn between the Freestyle and the Skeletool, if it wasn't for the biner I would def. get the skeletool. Also anyone have pictures of the actual process of the mod. Thanks

IMO, yes.  Modding a tool should void the warranty.  Of course Leatherman has been historically very generous about their warranty work, but If you removed the carabiner, I wouldn't expect them to cover a broken pliers head, for example.

Thanks. I like the freestyle, but I think I would be kicking myself in the butt if I bought a multitool without a driver...

What's all this hatred of the 'biner? I think they're great, and incorporate the best bottle opener ever!
I used to come here a lot.

I pulled the trigger on an amazon CX after many Ebay attempts at saving a few bucks.  I'm glad to get the straight blade over the 1/2 serrated- my old PST has that design and I would prefer 154cm like my charge.

I think that the biner is great if your wanna clip it to a backpack or a belt loop :cheers: I usually just use the pocket clip but I would have loved to have seen the bit driver on the Freestyle :D

Yea, I agree with poncho, the only way I would use it is with the pocket clip. But I think my problem has been  solved, I know some guys that work at a metal working place and I've asked if they could make a pocket-type tool to accompany a LM freestyle.

I personally like the clip on the Skeletool... for the reason Dave posted. Such a good bottle opener, even holds the cap after you pull it. :tu:
And for pocket carry, the clip adds very little in my opinion, since my jeans all allow me to fit in into the 5th pocket/"change" pocket.

If they make the skeletool inbetween the CX freestyle size and the full size and include the bit driver I'd be all over it and it would quickly replace my freestyle CX. I don't however need nor want the extra length of the clip.

I just can't much love for the Freestyle.  The skeletool is the way to go.  The weight is roughly the same, size is fairly close.  Plus, the the biner is quite possibly the best bottle opener in the world.  I don't like the pocket clip on them though, so I just clip the biner to my pocket , kinda like an improvised low ride clip.

I need to have it fully in my pocket as customers can't see I have a knife/tool on me unless I'm behind the counter using it. The full size is just a bit to big for that purpose.
