Custom Painted Leathermans.
on: December 05, 2009, 08:32:11 PM
Man oh man, I am happy. I have several packaged from the same eBay seller. I received the second package a week ago. Today, I got the first package. Not sure what was the hold up, but I am sure it got held up at the border or something. Long story short, I finally got it.

So without further ado, here are the photographs.

2 blue carbon fiber PSTs, 1 red carbon fiber PST, 1 red carbon fiber PST II, 1 red carbon fiber Blast, and 5 assorted carbon fiber Micras.

I am ecstatic that I didn’t lose this package as it would have hurt dearly.

I don't really know what to say...
I'll bet they're rare in a "custom-made" way, so if you like them then: Good score, Chako..  :tu:

Yay, I'm glad the package came through safely, I remember you telling me about it. :/

Still, I have to say I'm heavily digging the green CF Micra. o.o

AHB, they look better in person. The photos do not do them justice.

I have most of the Leathermans that are easy to get, and a few that are even hard to get now. To expand my collection, I am going for the weird out there. I have quite a few of  his Camo painted Leathermans. This is just another design. Rather flashy and loud. It is different, and that is why I like them.

Different strokes for different folks..  ;)
There's only a few Camo patterns I like of those I've seen so far, but that's what "custom" is all about... :)

I'm still trying to figure out how he paints them. The screw heads are painted, and the zytel inserts on the Blast are painted, so he doesn't disassemble the entire tool. Yet the blades are still shiny...

Howdee doodat? ???

From the standpoint of someone who doesn’t really know how the process works, as far as I can figure out, maybe he coats the areas he doesn’t want to paint with a water insoluble substance .

Well however they are done, it looks like a most professional job. :tu: The pattern on the "carbon fiber" ones are quite complex. If he can do that, he should think about doing specials with various sports team logos. White with pinstripes and a big NY logo for New York Yankee fans. Or all red with a speeding 8 on the side for Dale Earnhardt Jr fans. The possibilities are endless. And I'll bet rabid fans would eat them up. 8)

Mmmm. Whilst they certainly do look interesting, I think I'll stick to the stock colours and finishes......

Is the paint textured Chako? The "pattern" looks too well defined to be flat, but it's hard to tell from a 2D pic.
I used to come here a lot.

Can't say that it is DaveK. The finish is rather smooth.

Poncho65, it does make the handles feel a bit different. Not as much as you may think however. It feels like painted metal.

I'm still trying to work out if I like them or not.  I think it works far better on the micras but I'm not yet convinced on the full sized tools.  Still it certainly makes them look different. :tu:

Just form collector purposes, they would be perfect!

Are they TSA confiscations that this guy is painting?  They look nice but I'm more of a purist/tradionalist and like stainless steel.  I'm not even a fan of the BO MT's.
