Knee deep in Wengers.
on: December 11, 2009, 12:27:04 AM
I have expanded my Wenger collection quite a bit recently. I just received a couple of more boxes that contained...you guessed it, Wenger knives.

First up is this odd sampler kit. Not sure if this was made for a traveling salesman to discuss and take orders for company logoed knives. It is unusual.

Second is an all metal Wenger with a nice weight to it. It would make a wonderful paper weight.

And a Wenger laser.

I'm surprised at the salesman sampler, I really wasn't expecting to see something like that - nor the thickness of the Laser; granted, the sampler does look nice, and I absolutely love the look of the coffin scales, I just wish Victorinox would do something like that, too. ^^;

You sure are getting some nice stuff Chako!  ;)  Love seeing those pic's.  I have a Wenger Cigar Cutter
coming as well as a Vic Ranger.  I just need to pick up some sheaths now for some of these new knives.

Reason for the laser being so chunky is that it runs from two AAAA cells.  Button cells could have made things much thinner but not as long lasting.

Nice pics Chako.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

There is a rarer version?

I forgot to mention that there was a pick up slip informing me that there was a package awaiting my signature to release it. It turned out to be another Wenger.

The seller called it a Wenger vor Karbine 31 shooting miting 1990. The back of the knife shows the event.

I knew a bit about it from Bren10man. Only he called it an STG-90.

That is awesome... he has been rubbing it in in every thread that he has one..

The only problem my friend...is the cost of shipping. I fear I would have to rent a tramp steamer to lug it over, due to its massive weight. It just doesn't seem feasible.  :D

Nice Wengers Chako! :tu:

Does anyone know how many different knives they made with the aluminum coffin scales?

When I bought the Craftsman storage unit not that long ago, I didn't have that many Wenger knives. In fact, the tray looked down right bare compared to my Victorinox tray. Once I got them all together minus the special ones in their collector boxes, it looked anemic.

My next task was to flesh it out somewhat. I think I succeeded in doing that. Here is the same tray taken tonight.

That tray now looks a bit better.
