I wouldn't have blinked at that hitting $150 $160 and to be honest I wouldn't have been shocked at it going over $200 but yes that does seem a little high.

Then again it is a very rare SAK.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Rare for us indeed, but somewhere on this planet I think there is a hoard of them waiting for the next $300 offer. I wonder what these retailed for? $35-$40 maybe?

I only hunt on eBay.ca.

Not sure why you quoted me Stressmaster5000. That was in reference to the frog.

On the other hand, I think you have a bit too much time on your hands, but then, my buying activities are more or less public knowledge on this forum anyhow, as I post photographs of everything I get.  ;)

Unfortunately reasonable pricing on older SAKs (many not really vintage) is at least temporarily a thing of the past.  Just a few months ago you could actually get real bargains.  It takes more than 1 bidder for the price to move upwards so it might be a while before things settle down again, if they ever do.  It is that time of year where red is a popular color for packaging.    :climber:   :mail:

Someone has some deep pockets.  I was watching that SAK too.  I have bought from the Seller in the past and she is reputable.  The last time I bought from her I bought two knives.  She sent me a wrong knife and realized it the same day and contacted me about it.  She then sent the correct knife and asked when I got the first package if I would send the one she mistakenly shipped back.  The knife I didn't buy was a red Alox Cadet, nothing special.  I sent it back and she reimbursed me for the shipping but also reimbursed me for the shipping of the knives I bought.  When I saw that Voyager I wished she had mistakenly shipped that one to me.  I would have tried to negotiate a price with her.  She is a good Seller and I would/will buy from her again..............if I can afford it.  :D

We are seeing a climb in SAK prices.  Very recently there has been a notable jump but the climb has been ongoing for a few years.  It seems to go up in jumps rather than a gradual upward shift.  I don't think we'll see the prices drop.

In a couple of trades I've done in recent times when sending out rarer pieces I've suggested only partly tongue in cheek that the recipients might want to pop their new acquisitions somewhere safe as a pension fund top up :D

The Voyageurs have been selling in the $300 range for the past couple of years. Once upon a time, they probably sold for $20-$30 retail, but nowadays they are almost impossible to find. The ribbed scales look nice, and the fact that the Voyeageur variations (bottle opener vs. combo tool, red and silver alox) are the only alox with scissors, make them very desirable...
