Another point that needs clarification:  cold weather performance.

I see this touted all the time as a supposed advantage of CR123A lights over AA lights and it's just wrong.

Really?  I've never seen anyone comment that the cold weather performance was related only to the CR123 cell.  I've only seen it related to lithium primary chemistries.

I saw one CPF member comment that he's had poor performance (not weather) from Energizer L91s and L92s, but that seems to be an isolated incident.

I regularly see posts, on several different forums including CPF, touting the supposed superiority of CR123A lights over AA lights for cold weather use.

If this fallacy goes unchallenged, then many flashlight newbs read it and accept it as true.  Often newbs will then repeat the misinformation to others and the fallacy spreads.

Many times I've seen posts by longstanding CPFers, who should know better, include this fallacy while touting the superiority of CR123A lights.

While we are in on the subject of CR123 batteries, does anyone know where you can buy batteries in bulk at a desent price?

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14

$2 a piece if you order more than 10

rechargeables don't cost much more than that though...

I'd sooner recommend 4sevens.com over dealextreme.  They do 10 cells at $19 inc worldwide shipping http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=53_59&products_id=1628

At $1.90 a cell and for a cell that lasts simply ages for my use, I'm sticking with my CR123 light.
I'm back!!

that may be cheaper for US residents, but unlike deal extreme they appear (at least, from what I just read on their website) to be honest on their customs declaration, so us outside the US may get hit with customs charges... (and don't even get me started on parcelfarces £12 "customs handling charge" [/rant])

You can't get hit for anything on a $19 order as it is below the charge limit.

I meant if you order more than one pack of 10.

then again, I guess the best advice there is "don't"  ;)

Exactly.  With free shipping just do separate orders as and when you need them.

I know whats been said about China made CR123s but the last two Surefires I got from batteryjuction came with a 12pk of Titanium Innovations. I have had nothing but good results with them. And have used them ever since. Batteryjuction stands but them as well and it's a great site. And at $11.75 for a 12pk the price is good.

4sevens have the best deal for me. 19$ for a 10 pack with shipping, batteryjunction takes 18$ in S&H and that's one pack at 4sevens
