I have been focusing on Leathermans for some time now, and then the whole SAK thing got me off track to the plan, and that was to start updating my Gerber collection. Well, I am still on a SAK kick, so the small Gerber section will have to be put on hold for who knows when.
So in the meantime, I figured it was time to do a few more photographs, this time, one in honour of Cliosguy.
I had to leave a few out because I didn't have room.
EDIT: Just in case you were wondering, I am still playing with lighting.

Good stuff there mate
Question; now you are an owner of many fine tools of many brands, how do you think the Gerbers hold up against the rest?

Gerber gives me that warn and cold feeling.
I like their sliding plier design. Oddly enough, I feel it isn't a Gerber unless it has that design element to it. Likewise, I still feel that the MP400 and 600 series are the pinnacle of Gerber design and quality. Many of the newer tools feel decidedly junky. I dare say I have some very cheaply priced Chinese tools that feel of an equal quality to some of the newer Gerber tools at more then twice the price.
I also enjoy Gerber's attempt at trying wacky designs, such as the spring loaded pliers, or the interchangeable plier head. This makes me interested in their lineup as it isn't all traditional.
What I do not like about Gerbers mostly centers around their folding tools. There are 3 things that bother me about them.
1. The secondary folding tools tend to be dwarfed. In fact, Gerber seems to have a reputation of not filling all that empty space in their handles with metal. Not sure if this is a cost cutting measure, but it does make those small tools useless for what they would be designed for most of the times.
2. The sheet metal stamped look of their folding tools look and feel cheap...
3. Which leads me to the last dislike, that bead blasted finish.
So there you have it.
