Alrighty then... Could one of you summarize in a few words what's so bad about Douk-Douks? Disclaimer: I don't own any.
They feel like junk.Few enough for ya?

Apart from the Gerber MPT, the Douk-Douk is the only other thing I have ever opened and instantly thought "Wow, that truely is awful".
I guess you wouldn't fancy a Damascus one then, right? The "junkiness" is due to the metal sheet design, the backspring, or some other factor? I mean, are they useless even as blade blanks?

I can't imagine carrying one of those when an excellent Case Soddie Jr costs about the same - or even less, depending on where you get the Soddie.Opening, cutting, closing, then re-pocketing a Soddie Jr. is a sensual pleasure. Great ergonomics.Opening, cutting, closing, then re-pocketing a DoukDouk at best offers the pleasure of making do with minimalist equipment. DoukDouk ergonomics are fairly poor, IMO..I think the concept of the Douk Douk is a slim knife in the first place. =PAnd the steel is much better than Case's current fare.I'll admit it's a little slimmer than a Soddie. However, for slimmer I'd go with a Vic Alox single blade for about the same price as a DoukDouk.I actually prefer the stainless Soddie Jr. for EDC.Soddie Jr. is also available in a carbon steel version for those who want the better edge holding..
