Ahh man! That means I need to write another review! It means we have gone stagnate and we needed some fresh meat. Still waiting for that tool to come from that custom maker, other than that I can write knife review for the section  ;)

Whilst it's nice to see CRKT coming up with fresh ideas again, the Cicada doesn't make me sit up and say "I want that".

Do we know what the RRP will be for it Def?
I used to come here a lot.

That seems a bit steep to me. The L'il Guppie is only $35 on that same site.

Would you say it was worth that Def?

I'd pay that.  Still, I'd rather pay the $17-20 that it's likely to be, street price!

Probably.  If you can find it in the $10-15 range, I would definitely grab it.  It is actually a nice little tool, and the round body is much more manageable in the hand than many small keychain type tools like 58mm SAKs or the Squirt/Micra type tools.

It's been part of my work EDC for a couple of months now and I have to say, it's taken everything I have thrown at it, and just about everyone who sees it just had to have a play.  The LED is kind of weak, and a little too easy to switch on accidentally, but I still rate it as a good tool.  To be honest though, I carry another light with it, as I would with any LED equipped multitool or SAK, sonce none of them really manage to project any serious light.

And, with the relatively low cost of a decent dedicated flashlight, I'm not too worried.

I believe I got mine for sub $15 off Amazon at some point. :tu:

Only problem I'm having is either the LED is dead or the batteries it came with were dead. I can't find the right sized batteries to find out either! :D

very nice review Grant  now I want one :twak:

you said the name/Cicada was, "important to the ancient Egyptians"
which reminded me of the "scarab" beetle (dung beetle) ;)

That's exactly what a cicada is, and why I've always found it amusing whenever it shows up- like, say on all of Journey's album covers!  :D

Still, Cicada and Scarab both sound better than "but that walks backwards pushing a large ball of poo" so I imagine the choice was easy for the marketing people!

Yeah, street price of about $10-15 to you means it'll be about £20 over here I expect.  Not a lot I know, but it seems a lot for what you get.

a cicada is a totally different bug from a dung-beetle/scarab! a scarab has a much harder exoskeleton and hidden wings that collects dung balls, (reminds me of a couple of tool collectors i know... j/k)

the cicada is a tree living insect (adult life) that we hear in the summer time "buzzing/singing" with exterior wings and a very long pupae stage (up to 17 years).

cicada

scarab (dung beetle)

I'm such a geek to know this  ::)

Entomology was always one of those subjects I avoided... I don't much care for bugs!

Thanks for clearing that up, although a Cicada will always be one of these in my mind!

It's a true multitool- laser guns, standard missiles and smart bombs.... plus it flies!  Although you do need two people to use all the functions!
