I won't be able to join the challenge, but I must say that I just finished reading the Percy Jackson series and that series is now in my top 5.  Absolutely loved the book.

I also just discovered the whole world of audio books too...now the commute to work doesn't seem so bad :)

I've heard that the Percy Jackson series are good. I might give them a go. And audio books rock! They definately make commuting seem a lot less like a waste of time  :)

What about these:

 :D

:ahhh :ahhh Death my trekkiness :ahhh
:D I actually really enjoyed the latest film and all it's nods to the previous plots/actors but I draw the line at reading the books  :)

I found this board late.

But I did read the following:

1) Freefall by Joseph Stiglitz
2)Crisis Economics by Noriel Roubini
3)13 Bankers: The Wall Street Takeover and the Next Financial Meltdown by Simon Johnson
4)The People's History of the United States:1492 to Present by Howard Zinn
5)Sharpes' Rifles by Bernard Cornwall
6)Sharpe's Battle by Bernard Cornwall
7)Sharpe's Eagle by Bernard Cornwall
8)Sharpe's Battalion by Bernard Cornwall
9)Sharpe's Triumph by Bernard Cornwall
10)The Burning Land by Bernard Cornwall
11)Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen

What did you think about Three Cups of Tea? I enjoyed it to begin with but found it really dragged along towards the end. Great adventure though! Kudos to the man.

5)Sharpes' Rifles by Bernard Cornwall

Is the Sharpes' Rifles book about Sharps Rifles? :)

(Image removed from quote.)

edit: Ooop, nevermind, I just googled and found out it isn't :-[

You're worse than me  :D

Brief synapsis perhaps?

I know it is late in the year, and there is no way I could read enough to hit 100, but from tent reading, and late nights my list reads:

Confessions of an Economic Hitman - John Perkins
The Secret History of the American Empire - John Perkins
The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins
god is not Great - Christopher Hitchens
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
Ender's Shadow - Orson Scott Card
Shadow of the Hegemon - Orson Scott Card
March Upcountry - David Weber/John Ringo
March to the Sea - David Weber/John Ringo
March to the Stars - David Weber/John Ringo
We Few - David Weber/John Ringo
Stone of Tears - Terry Goodkind
Temple of the Winds - Terry Goodkind
Naked Empire - Terry Goodkind
Chainfire - Terry Goodkind
Phantom - Terry Goodkind
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
The Adventure's of Sherlock Holmes - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (camp favourite, read about 5 times this summer)

Update time:

36. Testimony - Anita Shreve - Anita Shreve writes simple striking stories that are easy to read. Probably fall into the girly catagory.
37. Body Surfing - Anita Shreve - Far too wishy washy for my tastes. Too much imagery and not enough plot!
38. Eden Close - Anita Shreve - Very interesting story with a good twist in the tale, by far the most "male" of her books. Written from a man's perspective.
39. Purple Hibiscus - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - Slow to start but an interesting glimpse into Nigerian life.
40. The 19th Wife - David Ebershoff - LDS murder mystery, interesting but I started to scan over the historical parts as I found them less interesting.
41. The Wild Gourmets: Adventures in Food and Freedom by Guy Grieve and Thomasina Miers - Interesting project, some interesting meal ideas and basic bushcrafty type skills. For those that would like ideas on how to incorporate foraged food into their diet, rather than a bushcraft instruction manual. Perhaps a beginners guide or something to get your foody friend interested in the potential of outdoors.

I'm sure I've read more but forgot to write them down. Will scout about and see if there are any lying around! I must remember to write them down before I give them away. Not a chance I'm going to hit 100 by the end of the year! I've spent far more time making things (homemade christmas this year!) in the last few months, than I usually do, and less time reading. I'm aiming for 50 now!

Shane769 - Did you enjoy The Picture of Dorian Grey? If you like that kind of fiction, have you read King Solomon's Mines? One of the best adventure stories ever written. I read it as a teenager (pre Indiana Jones etc) and was blown away by it. My teenage son is reading it now and loving it also. I can't wait for him to finish so I can read it again. Great tent reading! Nuphoria has just read Ender's Game and has been raving about it.

The lost throne is about a Murder at a Greek Monestery that sits on top of a rock 2000 feet above the ground.  It's part of a group of them called Meteora.  I won't go into any more detail because I will ruin the book, but suffice it to say, there are lots more killings and some pretty awesome stunts.

I did read it 2 years ago or so. Super good book. I have a friend with a History degree who loves older literature, so I steal his books :P

I'm glad Nuph liked Ender, it was the book that got me liking Sci Fi/Fantasy. I read it about once a year, since I was young(er... :P), even though it is written more geared for young adults. Definite recommend :tu:

Currently I am reading "Outdoor Photography Masterclass" by Niall Benvie.
