John,
I have an Artifact (and a couple of other things) waiting to be ordered in a “wish list” just as soon as I have a few quid saved up.....
I like the look of your Artifact!
Silly question but will rust?  :-\

Ratslash,
What is the tool in your picture?

If the Rat Man doesn't mind me stepping in, that was a tool he was developing some time ago, although we haven't heard much about it in some time.  I'd love to see a limited run, if even just for Multitool.org members!

John, would you be willing to share instructions on how you polished that up so nicely? I expect a lot of us will be wanting to do the same/similar to our Shards... thanks in advance!

The reason I polished mine was because my guess was the black coating would rub off very easily and it does  ;)

With just a little oven cleaner(Mr muscles) sprayed over the artifact I got down to the bare SS from here it was a case of using fine wet n dry until it shinned a little, then I used a dremel with cotton polishing mop and my preferred polishing compound Sanjay green that got it to where it is now, nice and shiny  :D surprisingly the finish holds up well to scratching  ;) I can only describe it as SS ball bearing finish  :salute:

Has the Shard been released in the US? Can it be bought?

I saw this at BritishBlades. Basically someone emailed the UK Distributor for Gerber, Silva, and asked the question.

Quote from: BritishBlades on January 6th, 2010
Reply from Suzy at Silva the UK importer unfortunately they will not be importing the Shard & suggested buying overseas as the way round it. I did send a polite reply stating my dissapointment & wouldn't they be better importing the Shard than the Artifact in the current media anti knife climate.
So it will not 'officially' be sold here  :twak:

If only there was some kind of limited run type thing  ;) :pok:

Yes.... it's too bad no one here may have an order pending on somewhere around 100 of them, that would be available through the upcoming Multitool.org store on EDCSource, where folks could buy all kinds of things with the Multitool.org logo on them.

I'll bet something like that would be really cool.  It's too bad that hasn't been something that some folks have been working on for some time and are about to launch.  I guess it just wasn't meant to be....
