Buck 110 question
on: January 17, 2010, 12:09:58 AM
Are the 4 pin buck 110's of more value than the 3 pin ones?  Thanks!

As much as I love 110's I know very little about the older ones  :(  If know one on here can help try the Buck forum over at bladeforums . I've actually spoken to Cj Buck on there before .

Chili,
I saw you registered.  :tu:  The 110's that are commanding the most $ right now are the custom scaled
units or the one's with the fancy steels.  Most of the old 3 pin units not so valuable unless they are in
mint condition and then they are usually only around $100 or so.
However, if someone has some of the first and second versions complete with boxes and paperwork and
are in super shape you could see them going for alot more.  There was a first version, first variant
that had been used quite a bit and it had one of the original doe skin sheaths and it went for over $800
with no paperwork.  They are rare!  The guys over on Bladeforums mentioned they would not be surprised
if it were in mint with all the proper paper trail etc that it could fetch $1600-2300.
But as we all know you need a buyer/collector who is willing to pay those kind of prices.  There are some
guys on the Buck portion of BF that have first, firsts who probably got them at gun shows and such and
they say they never paid anywhere near what some on ebay are asking.
I have some 110's and the one's I've been after lately are all 3 pin.  I like them and will do a bit of a
photo-shoot on them sometime and show some of the differences between the old and new.
Hope this helps you.  :)

Oh a word of note.  When I say 3 pin I am including the rocker pin.  Some do some don't.  I should
probably not include it but out of habit I do.  ::)

Thanks Sean, I really appreciate the info.  I'm not really looking for anything more than a $30.00 110.  I just regret selling mine and am toying with the idea of buying another to replace it...not for its monetary value, but just because it is a good, solid, stand up knife that is made to be used!  Still....if I do see a fair deal on ebay or something, it is hard to pass them up and not buy them, lol!

Yeah check ebay or see if someone has them locally near you.  I know up here Canada Tire had a special
on them awhile back and they were cheap.  :)
