My New Tool Kit For My Maxpedition Jumbo
on: January 17, 2010, 12:10:18 AM
I've been thinking about this setup for awhile now.  :tu:  I wanted something that could fit in the side pocket of my Maxpedition jumbo and have most of the tools that I use daily. I wanted to keep the weight to a minimum and the size compact. There are a couple of other things that I will still add when I get them, but until then I'm really happy with this setup.

Anyway, here are the pix:  :D

If you guys see somthing that you think I'm missing please post here and let me know, I'm open to all ideas.

I might add that the extra thick Atwood Funnybone is really nice. I talked to Peter about adding a hex driver to the center of the Funnybone and he said he might do some in the future.  :tu:

If it t'were me I would swap the 4" crescent for a 4" Snap On slip joint plier , you are off to a pretty good start ! I use the other version of the UTA . I'm gonna give the problem some more thought .

Chris, why the Snap-On? Better quality?

The 4" crescent has only about 1/2" of maw , the slip joints go a bit wider . Plus , I trust them more for cutting hard stuff . I'll get a few pics up ASAP .

GG, Bingo ! They gape to 3/4" IIRC , and are drop forged . Mechanics play pretty ruff .

It's the one in the middle of the pic, you can probably use any bit adapter/extender. It goes into the ratchet (making an L shape) and the bit is placed in the shorted end of the L. Mine came with it.

The LM extender works, but wobbles and drops free when tipped. It's not a great fit with my skele ether, side to side play is terrible  :(

p.s. the whole kit you see there minus the skele fit into that lm pouch  :tu:

Very nice mate, oddly enough I've just been thinking about adding a Bahco 4" adjustable spanner (known as a 'shifter' to us Brits) to my EDC.  The Engineer in me just hates using toothed jaws to turn nuts and bolts. :-\

I really want to add an Atwood ruler to my setup, but I need to find one first.  ::)  :D

not of my own, as I don't have one yet. :D  I do have other Bahco shifters though and the quality is top notch.

I have a set of 4" Channellock pliers and like them better than the Sears Craftsman version.

Nice set up GG, and I'm glad you're here :)

I'm using the LM bit kit, LM bit extender and a Pocketwrench II as my mini kit. I do have a really small ratchet somewhere but I buggered if I can find it at the moment

Add a decent multi (usually a Ti) to that and I think I have the basics covered without too much weight or bulk.
