Are you using the wire stripper notch or the edge of the can opener itself?  I'd thought about the stripper notch before but I've not tried it.

Actually Tony it is just three inches but one thing the green scales dirty up very easily I'm thinking maybe I should have went for wood  :think:

In general, I don't care for peasant-pattern knives...I find them kind of unwieldy to carry folded with the big tang.  But man...that little home-made one is just too sweet!   :tu:  I'd do that to one of our kitchen knives, but my wife might use the mangled stub to skin me :D

I am very pleased with how it turned out but I now need to replace the pivot pin with something adjustable as it has loosened up a bit which is annoying
If you have the tools have a go its not too hard to turn out a usable knife
and you learn with every try,
(that's not the handle I started out with, its Mk2)
Have a look at yard sales for a decent old kitchen knife to play with  :cheers:
