How about a non limited/affordable version of the Heritage Knife too.  I'd love to own one but not $500 worth of love.

+2 and then some.  If it was made with an economical version, I'd purchase several for use. o.o

So what's the word on update to the spirit?

It's a new handle design, and the images of it should be sent to me soon.  As soon as I have them I'll share them, but in the meantime, as I understand it, it's mostly cosmetic.  That's what I think was being hinted at though- no new tool config, no all new tool, just a fancy new handle.

New handle eh? Wonder what it'll look like. So I take it it's not even in prototype stage yet since there's none at SHOT show?

That's my understanding as well.  I got the distinct feeling that the "images" I am getting are technical drawings or artist impressions rather than actual photos.

Again, that's speculation....

I see, so with any luck, we'll see it in 5 years, consider how long they took to put a pointy blade into the spirit.  :D

Could you ask them to release the Dual Pro with a PE blade. Pretty please?

We asked them. They said yes. :D

(disregard all the fingerprints all over the one on the right. both knives were highly polished to typical Vic perfection)

Serrated blade/corkscrew model sounds like its intended for the European market, whereas the Plain edge/phillips is bound for North America. :)

Oooooh........a PE version with no corkscrew! I'm going to have to get that!  :2tu:

Are they going to put similar handle material that is going to be on the Dual Pro?  Just a thought, but that is the impression I'm getting now.

I am sorry....that Dual Pro is UG-LY!!!  Even worse, the handles look sickly to me.

I will stick with my 2008-pattern Soldiers.

If the price is not truly obscene , I'll prolly end up with a Damascus Pionner . The Dual pro is funky looking , but I'll probably weaken . Vic's curved serrateds are little short of wonderfull .

With those red & black sheaths, it does sort of look Wengeresque.   :D

Cool, will probably try to get the Euro version then remove the blade serrations (i hate the philips, prefer a corkscrew) lol.
Any pics of it with both blades closed?
And a pic with the main blade opened and the secondary blade closed?

Tbh, I'm a bit disappointed with Vic. 2010 seems to promise new scales on SAKs and the Spirit and.........

You'd have thought that with Leatherman and Gerber announcing some really radical and innovative new designs, they'd be up for the challenge. I hope we're not seeing a strategic move away from multis - that would be sad.
I used to come here a lot.

I don't know what it is, but those scales just remind me of a Wenger more than a Victorinox.  Hence me referring to it as Wengeresque.  It would be quite a nasty little knife with both blades locked out at the same time though.  :D

Especially if you sharpen the tip on both!

I'm so getting a DAK and make both blades pointy!

Thanks thats what the doctor ordered, lol!
I had an old Spyderco FRN Dyad years ago and now have a Byrd Wings and Byrd Wings Slipit.
The double bladed knives can feel a bit unusual at first but you get used to it.

I really really hope Victorinox decides to finally put the regular Vic scissors into the Swisstool Spirit.
The 91mm size scissors should fit in there fine.
The current Spirit scissors are "functional" but pale in comparison to the vic scissors on all the other model SAKs and the fullsized Swisstool.
Please Victorinox put regular vic scissors in the Spirit!
I promise i'll buy a new one if you do!

Same here... I was regretting switching out my Explorer Plus for my new Soldier yesterday when I had to use my Spirit's scissors... frankly, it seems like the 58mm scissors of my Rambler would've been a better choice... those open wider and cut almost as much in one passing. :/
