Field & Stream ad
on: June 19, 2007, 03:13:56 AM
There doesn't seem to be many multitool advertisements in magazines any more. Not sure why? I was surprised to see this one for the Gerber Freehand in a recent copy of Field & Stream magazine.

I'm refusing to comment on that Gerber ad because of the truck pictured... that would never happen...  >:D >:(

Here's a Buck X-tract advertisement that I found in Outdoor Life magazine.  (No broken Dodge vehicles pictured, so I'm sure Mike will like it better!)  :pok:  ;)

Ummm....and as a consumer, would that ad incline you to rush right out and buy a new Charge AL?

Thanks for the scans guys. I don't read many magazines anymore, I'm currently trapped in a never-ending spiral of reading all the comic books and trade paperbacks my mother never let me buy when I was a kid. It's good to see some of the marketing ideas floating around nowadays.

I have some old Popular Science/Mechanics and Outdoor magazines I'll leaf through this weekend to see what I can find too.

I love it, these new ads have attitude, it's kinda cool. If tools could talk, what would they say? :)

Hahaha... I've thought of about 4 more things my multitools would say, but they all get progressively more perverted and disgusting...

Cool! I get Outdoor Life second hand, after my dad is finished reading them. I'll have to check those ads out when we do our monthly magazine swap next week.

Has anyone else noticed that both Leatherman and CRKT are using the same "talking multitools" style of advertising campaign? Makes a person wonder if they both hired the same ad agency, or if there might be a little corporate espionage going on?  >:D

There seems to be a lot of personification in the media these days.  Perhaps they were developed independently by nearsighted ad companies that thought they were both being trendy?  Of course by the time they both launched they both had too much money into it to scrub the idea...
