New Benchmade

Looks like Benchmade is coming out with some new Rescue tools for 2010.

I wonder if these will replace the Rescue Hooks?

I like the looks of these, but I wonder how large they actually are.

They are nice enough- well worth the price point (I think around $25 or so) and are a good size to fit in your hand.

They come in yellow and black versions, with the only difference between the two being the color.

The cover snaps into and out of place nicely, and the small metal lip underneath it functions as a bottle opener.

They were also nice enough to show us the 8Hook EOD which features an oxygen bottle wrench in addition to the strap cutter.  I would think that if you were disposing of bombs you probably wouldn't have an oxygen bottle nearby, so I don't think the name is appropriate, but maybe Andy will be by to tell us why it's important to have that on an EOD tool.

I have lots more pics of more BM stuff that I will get up as soon as I can- including some pics of those boat knives.

Hmmm, would be quite tempted by those.  I like the hook idea but don't like the cutter exposed like some tools, or in a sheath that doubles it size like others.  This seems a good solution.

Thanks for the info Def!

I also like the idea of the slide down cover.  Most people won't even know what it is.

With the clip, I suppose this is something you could hook onto your pack or somewhere within reach inside your vehicle.

These look pretty cool IMO, especially the yellow one. I have always been impressed with Benchmades rescue tool and hooks so I'm hoping these will have a similar sort of quality.

Can't tell from the pix- is the blade a separate/replaceable piece?

No, I think it's molded in.  We asked the same question, but Benchmade's stance was that the tool is pretty cheap (MSRP of $25 I think) so when it wears out, just buy a new one.
