The SOG Power Assist is out?
on: June 20, 2007, 01:41:13 AM
I did not think the power assist was going to be out until Aug 2007.
I was just looking around on ebay and see a seller has then for sale already.

Any other "good" online sog dealers have them onhand for sale too?

Interesting, if true. I sent the seller a private message, asking if he actually had the tool in stock.

Me too, lol..

I also search for online store and the only other place I found said they would have then July 1st!

There are two blades?
I only see photos of the one blade, what would the second blade be?

Yep, two blades in the one handle. (Only two blades.) Both are assisted-opening, both have thumb studs for one-hand opening. (Although one blade will be best suited for right handed folks, the other blade best for leftys.)

The main SOG site doesn't have much in the way of pictures. There are a few other different angles shown at the SOG blog here: http://sogknives.com/wordpress/?p=56#more-56

I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about eBay sellers selling items they do not have in stock and making the buyer wait months before they come in. I suppose this could be the case, you would essentially be pre-ordering the tool. I am curious though, I'd get one now if I could.

I would think that someone around here would have a direct connection with SOG so we could get the latest greatest items first, lol... :)

Hehe...we'll have to get after Def when he gets back. Maybe he can talk Chris@SOG into giving us some goodies to test out.

I think Spoonrobot hit the nail on the head.  I also noticed a few Ebay Stores had listed the PowerAssist and Powerlock 2.0.  That was a few months ago--way before the scheduled release dates.

I have asked Chris to have a look at this and let us know his thoughts...

Do not buy it!  We have not yet shipped a single tool.  I am guessing it is some sort of a scam.

We are expecting to ship the tool sometime in September. So if you get or find an offer before then you might be better off ignoring it.

Chris

No big surprise then I guess that the seller never responded to my questions. Damn scammers.

I doubt they are scamming so much as trying to lock people into buying them, when they become available.  They also appear to be blameless because they can always pass the buck on to SOG for the wait.

Ebay can be a buyer's paradise, but Ebay surfers really need to check forums(like this one ;D),to save themselves a bunch of grief and bucks. Honesty is the best policy, but CYA is better!!

Selling something that you don't have yet...and are not likely to have any time soon...is a scam.

I'll remember that when we start listing pre orders for the Multitool.org Multitool! :P

I agree it's a scam, but they probably have enough of everyone else's money that they don't care!
