is this swisstool X Genuine?
on: January 22, 2010, 12:31:43 PM
Hey,

I recently bought a Swisstool X from ebay. Its great feels like its sturdy and high quality, however I rad the little intruction paper that was in the package today and I noticed the following:

which made me look at my new swisstool and compare it to a old regular swiss knife i had.

Which brings me to the question is this a (real good)fake?

No worries there.

Don't think we have seen a fake one have we?  Would be far too much work I expect.
I'm back!!

Yeah my Swisstool doesn't say Rostfrei either, but my CT34 does. Not sure why, but yeah Vic doesn't always use the term Rostfrei (whatever that means)

Rostfrei is loosely translated as "rust free", aka stainless steel.

Don't underestimate the Chinese.  They fake anything and everything.  I have seen fake Rolex and Omega watches here in Korea, mostly from China.  The more expensive the fake Rolex or Omega, the more identical the fake is.  I own a real Rolex Submariner-Date stainless steel watch, bought NIB in late 2003 when I got home from Iraq (present to myself...hey, I more than earned it!!).  As such, it is easy to spot fakes.  And like Rolex, Victorinox changes stuff from time to time to throw off the fakers.

As stated before, your Swisstool X is real.  I have both old and new marked Victorinox knives.  Change happened about 2005 if I am correct.  I like the old marking better myself.
